A bunch of people are starting up a irrelevant top which centers around the new Presonus Atom Pad and the Native Instruments Maschine controllers. These controllers are great tools and should not be compared to each other. Pick the product according to your workflow. The Atom Pad is a nice touch to my music production workflow and also nice to be able to control different things inside Studio One 4.

Just got my ATOM last night, and I agree with all you said. I also have the Maschine Mikro MK3, and you are dead on that each device have different workflows. But the ATOM, along with the recent Studio One integration with my Komplete Kontrol S-39.....now that is a one-two punch, right there. Thanks for the vid!

Thanks for this. I'm going to cop me one. My inky only gripe with Maschine is it really won't let me work linearly inside my DAWs (Cakewalk and Studio One 4) like I'd like to for some projects. Atom looks like it will bridge that gap for me. And, for $150, it seems like a no brainer.

The Atom can be used as a MIDI controller for other DAWS and programs. Yes you have to create a template but works great.

@KsoundDEF I try the atom and didn't like it. I think is possible on mikro mk3 to switch to midi mode and use it with impact. Or battery... Or with maschine soft. Do you think that is a problem that mikro mk3 doesn't include midi map?

Good over all review. Like you said depends on what your looking for. I myself was looking at a few pad machines. Im getting mine ( atom pad) shipped to me soon. This looked like something basic, something I can control and master using, and get the job done with. It also comes with a program that's basic and easy to understand. I chose my daw on can I understand it lol. They basically both controllers. Just like garageband, fl studio, pro tools are all daws. Pick one you can understand and tweak it from there. But yea you can cop both . Depends on what you want to do in what, and on what . Midi keyboard can do samples to lol but I rather have the pad plus it come with a software that's made for the pad. most younger mainstream producers only have a few machines if that lol. but upgrading equipment is addicting lol. good review ima start uploading in a few months.

I use Studio One gear and Native Instruments and the integration is pretty cool indeed..they all have their individual functions. I use Maschine routed thru my StudioLive 32 S Desk just like any other VST. Atom is pretty awesome especially in pattern mode, although Maschine Mk3 + Jam together synchronized to Studio One Saw 5.3 works a treat for me.

But BWOY lemme tell you......Presonus is GAME CHANGING!!!!!!!!!! If the Atom can do all that it can right now as an introduction product, just imagine where this is going. It gives a brother chills just to imagine what’s next. I promise you all, STAY TUNED because Presonus will OWN the industry very soon just as the way Pro Tools used too!

Can I use ATOM as a Controller like an APC40 with ableton but for Studio One 3 for live performance on four instruments? For Example I have 14 tracks , 3 for Roli Rise 25, 3 for Seaboard 49 , One for NI Maschine 2 and one for my guitar? My goal is to do live performance without playing with a laptop to interchange sounds to my instruments like the TWO Roli Keyboards, a Kompakt Keyboard and Maschine 2. Greatly appreciate your input.

Well said. At the end of the day it's a tool. The way I see it Maschines DAW was built around the controller. Others are building the controller around the existing DAW. Maschines took the mpc format and translated it to a GUI (Graphical User Interface). Linear daws are not that, therefore the tools associated with them will never encapsulate what Maschines truly is.

NI changed the game with Maschine. Every company is now creating hardware to integrate with their Daw software. However I think NI dropped the ball not including a proper screen on the new version of Mikro just for the sake of hitting the lower price point.

Just a heads up for anyone wanting the maschine jam for Bitwig, it kinda sucks. Better to use it with Ableton Live. People have made great drivers for the Jam. But they are not to the level you'd wish for. They are better then the native drivers. Something might have changed. I left bitwig over a year ago. Great Daw. It will hopefully grow into a true ableton rival. Just saying that so my Bitwig guys aren't salty. I really loved the daw. Time stretch, midi stretch and many other things lack compared to ableton or even Reason. Studio one with Atom is pretty amazing. They keep updating the device drivers and its pretty damn good. The price is killer. Hard to beat all around. Get a used license of Studio one 4 Pro for $150 and a new Atom for $150. 300 for a great controller and daw. Also my guy, great video!

All roads of music creation return to MPC. These computer based interfaces are too convoluted !
@dawoud8013
@dawoud8013 5 жыл бұрын
I have never used MPC or maschine. in the past (over 15 years) I had a keyboard controller and external sampler & expanders, on an old computer sequencer. Now starting from zero, if i buy the Atom, I will have an official sequencer (Studio One Artist) and I will be able to do everything that maschine does? but with a different workflow. that's it ? and with all the shortcuts of the Atom, I can forget more about the mouse ! So no need for me to go with a more expensive and DAWless mashine mikro mk3 offer ? useless to buy both ....? the only diference is slicing/choping on the fly like MPC ?? EDIT : look how to chop with the ATOM : kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJ6vhZaPiZZ5b9U

dawoud8013 not comparable dude. If you work primarily in s1, why find interest in the mikro? You certainly wouldn’t buy a Atom for Maschine platform. Two different workflows. The mikro will be able to work with Maschine software and standard midi controller. The Atom will not be able to control Maschine.
