Your Review is SPOT ON. I bought this mic and it is what I would describe as a silent assassin as far as 'killer' dynamic microphones are concerned. I use Studio One software and with just a bit of light processing you get exactly what you need. Plus the noise rejection as you mentioned is EXCELLENT. Lovely 'clear' natural sound and a worthy investment for new and/ or experienced users. thanks for your review.. really spot on! :-)

Presonus is not only known as a software company, it always did hardware before even starting Studio One Software in 2009.

For a budget, no frills, good to go out of the box solution, the Presonus PD-70 sounds pretty good. You're not compromising in the looks department either. It's a great recommendation Mark. Thank you.

What about needing a shock mount? I find I'm moving my boom around often when chatting with friends. Does it pick up a lot of noise from being touched or moved around?

Fantastic information, but after a few minutes I had to skip ahead to the point where the background music stopped (I found it very distracting). The Super D sounded awful, but the PD 70 sounds really good. Thanks for the review !

Thank you for the review - I'm looking to get hold of one of these shortly. I was wondering if you've used it with a cloud lifter? I use a Klark Teknik C1 with an XM8500 which gives a really nice clean boost. I was using my Rode M2, as well as a Fifine k678, but have found the dynamics better for recording in the house. Many thanks, kind regards!

No cloud lifter, I recommend then Arturia Minifuse 1, under $100 USB interface and as good a interfaces 3 times the price. I will have a review on the channel about it shortly.

For the purpose of zoom/discord calls, would you pick the Podmic or the PD-70 if paired with a Vocaster? I know both are overkill for this usecase but I am sick of usb mics
@OrenArieli Жыл бұрын
I prefer the sound of the PD-70 over the Rode PodMic, but it is brighter than I expected for my voice....and pretty gain hungry. Make sure you've got a clean pre-amp if you're going to pick this one up.
@aussieoddsocks3 жыл бұрын
Can I ask what audio interface you are using for your XLR mics? as an aside my hunch is that not only is RODE well known for mics (your purchasing a proven product) but they also have a good ecosystem that brings all there products together in an easy to use way for the average punter.
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
I’m using the Audient ID 4, for sure the Podmic works great with the Rode Procaster, it has a specific setting for that mic, but that’s a fairly costly unit. I think with Rodes budget audio interface (the ai something), there probably isn’t any advantage. Podmic is still a great mic regardless, and is a 10/10 for build and looks.

I got the Q9U because it can be on the go or stay with my main desktop setup. I might consider this PD-70 in the future if I need an upgrade.

Hey Mark, wonderful review!! I heard you say that the SM7B windscreens would fit. Have you tried the smaller windscreen from the SM7B on it vs the big puff like you recommended in this video?

I'm having problem with making the sound stereo once I rewatch the video, how do I fix that?
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the editing program, in editing you can set it to stereo pan, or dual mono. It will be a setting in your editor, just google the name of your editor and the problem.

This is a great mic... the only thing I didn't like about it is that the plosives are REALLY harsh, even if I speak below it and use a second pop filter. Any suggestions with that? Could I buy the bigger sm7b pop filter and put it over the top of the one currently on it? Lol, curious...
@markwiemels2 жыл бұрын
There is pop filter called the big puff, or something like that, for the sm7b, it works perfect on this mic, and kills the plosives. here is is - geni.us/v9AdAm

Great review! I do video podcasting and I'm wanting to upgrade my "on-air look". Currently use the XM8500 and LOVE it, but I want something whic looks "cooler" on camera. (yes, I'm a bit vane!) I liked the sound of the Super D , I'll have to see reviews on that one as well. Thanks!

This is why I went with the PD-70 too. I was also on the XM8500

@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
I would save up the little extra for one of the $100 microphones, lots of good ones at that price point, it gets pretty hard at $70. A super budget option would be the XM8500 (search it up).

Hey Mark : ) Off subject You think I will get better still images off a M6 than the M50 will it be substantial improvement or any better in poor light?
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
In video there is a big difference, in photography I really don’t think I can tell the difference. The M6 II might be better in low light photography, because it has a high iso image processing that helps remove the noise, but I did test this once and I think I still struggled to tell the difference.
