I'm learning so much. I was a cakewalk user and recently jumped to presonus studio one. These tutorials have helped me so much and making mixing in my life so much easier. Thank you. Now I know where to find post and pre fade.

This is one of the most important concepts to understand. Joe you did an excellent job of explaining this. Great work brother.

Indeed. Joe is great and this is yet another example. WRT this specific issue, the way I'm going to think about it in order to remember it is this: "Post-fader" (default) = fader dependent "Pre-fader" (yellow) = fader independent The whole reason this feature is confusing to remember is because the old analog desk terminology has no context for most users. Perhaps it's time to lose the old terminology and start using terms that actually describe the function of the feature.

Hey Joe, as always gr8 explanation that clearly and simply taught me the difference b/t pre- and post fader sends, and when and how to use them in a mix. Thanks!

I have to say this: Just contacted Presonus Support and I am POSITIVELY SHOCKED how fantastic job they do. I am slowly switching from Ableton to S1 and can only say - the difference in support quality is like night and DAY. I am really impressed. So far it is better in every possible aspect ! Ableton was great 12 years ago when I started. Now, their support is absolute trash. I hope this will not happen to Presonus. So far I really like this company attitude (so different from others). Yes, there are things I would like to see improved, but comparing how much PRESONUS have done with their software in such a short time (for example comparing STEINBERG being on the market forever) is mind blowing. Even after 12+yrs of using LIVE there is a lot to learn to use S1, but there also seems to be much more possibilities with this software. Dear PRESONUS people - I wish you became number one DAW on the planet ! Thank you for your work and support and most of all for listening to your customers/users. KZbin Q&A sessions are absolutely fantastic !!

Good video. Thanks Joe! Another technique we used back in the 70's was to use it on fade ins and outs. e.g. Start with the fader down in pre-fade with say a piano washed out with verb. Then bring the fader up to bring the piano from that wet distant sound into a drier sound in the front of the mix.

Great info as always. I first came across the pre- and post-fader switch near the input Trim on my old Mackie analog mixer. I've set up my S1 audio to go prefader to my FX channel chain so the easier for me to see vertical fader controls the overall effects level.

@presonus :thanks for the Video. But what about Post Fader on inserts - like other DAW also have ? is this also possible in S1? for now i didnt see it - i usually want to use the faders for automation and set levels after via trim plugin - bin post fader insert. how i can do this?

Hello! Make chord pads and RMS Peaks numeric displays on each channel (near the faders in mix console), just like in Cubase. That's all I need to add in Studio one right now)

Can we expect pre/postfader plugins? Useful for clippers and saturation plugins to mimic real console chanel headroom.

OK, Joe. As you know, the anologue equivalent of this was ALWAYS pre-fade/pre-EQ (or post EQ with internal jumpers. In the DAW world, I guess the equivalent would pre/post insert. So in S1, is this send control pre or post inserts and can that be changed?

Joe a question I have is. How do you ensure you are using multi core in studio one 6. Thank you for taking the time to read this .JK

U yse tge /CLA Unplugged as a form of Parallet compression. Never have to use fader at all, just automate. The horizontal Metter in the send channel does all that cleaner

Multiple issues with PDC in S1. V6. With different plug-ins that have look ahead function active. Internal mixdown failures with ProQ3 (their own plug-in) Chopped off beginning ( parts of the wav) after rendering Absolut Desaster !! S1 Internal Mathematik is seriously broken
