A press conference was held after the abrupt cancelation of The Convention at Ghana's Independence Square that was scheduled for January 7, 2024.
Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, Former Permanent Representative of the African Union to the United States, Peter Obi, Nigerian Politician and Businessman, P.L.O. Lumumba, Director of the Kenya School of Law and Nana Kwame Bediako (Freedom Jacob Caesar aka Cheddar) spoke at the press conference to give explain what happened.

They got the dignitaries to book and fill their hotels that they have built with stolen Ghana's revenue and then cancel the event just before it starts. Akufo Addo and his visionless group will always find ways to profit from Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's efforts, but would do anything to stop it's advancements. Some of his supporters which mainly belongs to his Ashanti and Akyem tribes have always hated the fact that, the freedom of Ghana and the African Unity was obtained by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah because he's of different tribe. Nobody should be under any illusions that, it is not about tribalism. Akufo Addo is deeply tribalistic and anti-Pan Africanism person and the sad thing for Ghana that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah founded is that, Akufo Addo and his group, known as Danquah/Busia group are the dumb people you would find in the country. Anytime they find their way into power through military means or bribery means, they would loot the revenue of Ghana, destroy the economy and the infrastructures and the evidence is very clear with the current state of Ghana's economy as we speak. If that group is not banished from Ghana's governance, Ghana will never move forward.

Ivy, once upon a time, not so long ago, I thought that Bediako would've been a fit leader for Ghana - HOWEVER, his alignment with Belgium (and no doubt other Euro countries) makes me hopping mad! He uses a white face (esp. a Belgian) after all the atrocities wreaked on the Congolese, while he stands behind a mask - who/what else is being masked??? I do not trust him as far as I could throw him and I do not think Ghanaians should either! I have lost complete confidence in him! He is decidedly not a Pan Africanist in my book!

I have been scratching my head since he started. Then, after the cancellation, he took the guest to see the former president of Ghana, who is also contesting the upcoming election. Now, if he really wants to contest, that was a bad move. Then he comes out of this saviour mentality that has the potential to alienate him from the very people he wants to join him. I might be oblivious, but from my little observation, the guy has some hidden political plans; to put it right! But he has put himself in a conundrum, that is really now difficult to reveal. I say so because if he later declares his intention for any political position, meaning that was his true intention, but he did not want to put it just straightforwardly. And that alone would indicate that he is a criminal. We wish to know more of his convention from now, and his footprints he was talking about. He planned to announce his candidacy during this rally and make everyone believe that these African leaders are behind his presidency, when he never disclosed this to them. That is not democracy. I have made comments regarding the cancellation of this event in other media, and I will repeat some of the comments again. Th four individuals that were schedule to make speeches in this event allude the problem of Africa to bad leadership and the President of Ghana is one of the current leaders in Africa. The four speakers did not come to Ghana to for free in the first place and secondly, they ought to begin their crusade from their respective countries is they are really serious about their mission. The unification of Africa will not come about with the youths being incited against leaders but youths getting involved in politics using the available platforms. If such change ever takes place in Africa, it will involve a lot of changes in the 54 countries in Africa, therefore four people going around criticizing the leaders before the youths can never yield any positive results. One of the speakers in this even have gotten it made in their respective countries. They are nothing but paid motivational speakers. Why did they choose to hold this event in Ghana knowing fully well this is an election year and the Government would not like to see any distractions or chaos as they prepare the country for a general election. The youths in Ghana can organized themselves to participate in the upcoming election even if it involved registering a party. Importing speakers from another country to incite the youths against the Africa leaders was seen as a threat to the Ghanaian authority. The speakers have no success story to tell about their own countries. Charity begins at home and these speakers have no such evidence to show other than to tell the audience what they want to hear and get paid.
