"Privacy does matter. It's the essence of what we are as human beings." Thomas Drake "If we don't have that, guess what?" In short: the 'what' is that we become either 'enemies of the state', or property of the state. The dude's not 'flash', but whoever has seen and listened attentively to this video has witnessed true courage- seen true greatness.

A former Stasi member was asked about the recent US surveillance scandals on mcclatchydc. "It is the height of naivete to think that once collected this information won’t be used." Why wouldn't a high official in the NSA or CIA use this surveillance to stop activism or take out a political opponent? It happens all the time.

Instead of going completely schizophrenic in our policies, we should get to the root of the problems. Maybe we should stop making enemies all around the world and start trying to just get along with the rest of the world for the benefit of all the world's people, not just a few.

This guy has his principals straight. The no doubt excessive cost to himself and the government for his surreal trial is a another prime example of the continuing incomprehension of our founding ideals by many with power. And the citizenry and PRESS has been engineered to follow suit.

I have so much admiration for Mr. Drake taking the opportunity to make him self available to the NPC. Shame on myself for not knowing of you and more importantly your message sooner. I am a bit saddened that during your presentation the moderator at times did not quite "Get it" sort of speak. Your message of taking back personal liberty, correcting fundamental flaws in National security policies by starting over are powerful and need to be emphasized and repeated. The future needs people like him

Bravo, bravissimo. The man should have his day of congratulations, definitely. But the much used term "national security" is a euphemism for something much more sinister, in my opinion. Try STATE SECURITY for size. Those in power ("the state") want to remain in power. Simple as that. And no amount of nice speeches will get them out.

Some secrets are kept for a reason, like battle plans, secret identities, secret soldiers, agents, and even secret agencies for strategic and safety reasons but if they're just keeping it a secret to avoid punishment or for selfish gain that's not right for this government

Drake is the "real deal". I have great respect for his opinions on the 1st Anndt. He is a bright, knowledgeable individual. Fortunately we have people w/ scruples like him. Yet individual disclosures should always been taken on an individual basis. Not ALL classified info should be leaked: this needs a great deal of sober soul searching.

Ewhelden The prosecution attempted to lobotomize Susan Lindauer. I honestly believe the practice of doing so has been constant upon all suspected of being a danger to sinister plans., It is my opinion that even Ronald Reagan was subjected to lobotomy while being told he had Alzheimers.
