To elaborate further, the loudness button (sometimes called contour) follows whats called an equal loudness curve. Basicaly, our ears are less sensitive to low frequencies at low volume. The loudness function adds bass at low volume level, and takes it away at high levels (aswell as playing with the treble a bit) Also I believe the MC/MM is for the turntable preamp

I didn't really get when you said in the main video "I bought it so you don't have to". Now I fully understand why you said that. I also would have spent hours going through all the features and clicking all 89 buttons, and then never would have used them ever again.
@Matt95GT10 ай бұрын
The "Sound selector" button lets you switch audio and video inputs independently - for example, you could watch the video from VCR1, but listen to audio from the CD input instead. Many others beat me to it - the MM/MC button is for the phono input pre-amp. It selects different phono cartridge types (Moving Magnet or Moving Coil) - basically different levels of gain (and RC loading) but phono carts are a deep rabbit hole, and it is full of opinions, much like the microphones in that comparison video you posted. I also have an obsession with 80's/90's audio, and could almost open a JVC museum. I don't have a RX-1001V, as the flagship models still cost too much, but I do have a RX-999V with the same design/display, and I definitely pushed every button at least once.
