Segment LCDs are always cool - they are the one of the little unloved but ubiquitous bits of tech that have no real good replacement or alternative - little low power displays everywhere when you look for them. They are absolutely indispensable.

Did you know you can also get glowing flexible plastic that can be made with any design. Its quite dim though, and I forgot what it's called. When I worked for a glow suit dance show company called vospertron we looked at using it for some glow suits but it was a bit too dim.
