Pressure area vs max flow area

Both the shock compression adjuster and fork base valve flow relatively small oil volumes. 30- 47ml depending on the brand.
The concept of having adequately stiff valving on these pistons the maintain control over the flow of such a small volume of oil in order to reduce the chances of any flow imbalances between the active piston (main/mid) vs the passive piston (base/cadj)

Do you know the port entry area for the kyb sss midvalve (24mm) if the basevalve has 66mm2 the difference between the could be calculated...

112mm2. On the midvalve you can limit the maximum flow area by utilizing a backer shim to limit shim edge lift.
