So strange that it never occurred to me to can HAM, until today! Now I will!...I especially like the idea of making your own ham broth to can it in!

Can hardly wait for Hannaford to have Easter hams on sale so I can use my shiny new canner for this! Thanks again for another great video. Your teaching style is so friendly and approachable that it takes the fear out of pressure canning meats.

I am going to be canning ham today. I’ve done sliced before but not cubed. I love this idea! This would also be great ground up for ham salad.

Thank you. I just did this and they came out great! I am glad I cut them a little bigger as they shrunk and are now all bite-size, which is perfect. Got 8pints out of it and one pint of broth left over that we are going to make some Mac&Cheese with and cook the noodles in the broth.

Thanks for showing your pressure canner! I new to canning and have a small version of your canner and I'm always wondering if I'm doing it right since it has no gage on it. I would love to see a walkthrough of how it should be working.

You really must have a guage. You can give yourself or others food poisoning without it. Let us know the type of canner that you have. I would imagine it is imprinted on the bottom with a maker, and how many quarts it holds so you can find a guage and weight for it!

Thanks for the video. For the bones, did you put a splash of vinegar in? From the videos I've seen on bone broth it suggests the vinegar because it pulls so much good stuff from deep in the bone. I like your videos and would respect your 2 cents on this. Thanks and Jesus bless.

Good video. I have canned ham before and found that some of the ham came out dark with a weird flavor. Any idea why?

If you eat it on its own you may want to add a little seasoning, but I usually mix it into casseroles, rice or egg dishes and it great!

Can you render the fat from the ham, store it in the freezer and use it like butter for frying in the pan?

What about canning ham in syrup and/or honey with pineapple chunks? Would it still need added liquid?

I've always felt that precooked meats would lose a lot of flavor into the broth, seeing it cooks an additional 75/90 minutes during canning. I've been wanting to find a good tasting ham that is not precooked.....any suggestions ??

Oh thank God….Gordon’s had a fully cooked ham, cured. It was huge. I cubed it up and pressure canned it. Then, I heard you can’t pressure can cured ham? Did I hear that right? I’m a new canner, so I didn’t think about that. Is it safe to eat? I did this last month, they look great in the jars too. Thank you..

Never ever can any brined, cured or smoked meat. That includes ham. I don't know the exact reason why but it has something to do with the canning prosing of these foods will not can properly. Remember, just because you see someone doing it on Utube does NOT make it safe or correct.

@@stevene9785 I agree. I see too many rebel scanners out their. I had no idea I should not can ham.., my error. I should of checked the USDA instructions but I didn't. I was uncomfortable so I tossed it. A real loss but I didn't feel safe.

We try to stay ontop of rotation, 14 months is the longest any made it on the shelf, still tasted like the day I canned it! Canning up more this week!

@@HomesteadCorner that is so good for me to hear! I just bought 3 hams today, and considered retuning them after I saw a few you tube videos saying that canning ham is not recommended by the USDA, but because they have never tested it. I figure if you have done it successfully, it can be done!

I use to can ham, but now when I do it turns a disgusting brown. And it doesn't smell very good either!
