My deer hunting aunt would cook deer necks,then scrape the meat out of the holes,then canned it.Bacon grease,onion,flour salt and pepper the canned neck meat over homemade biscuits,nothing better on this earth.

When I do my canning I do a quart jars and I put a teaspoon of onion soup mix in it oh man

Hi Iris. 😊 I can Venison too! Hubby loves it. Have you tried doing the ground venison? I partially cook it, before jarring it. But most meats I do the raw pack method. Great information on pressure canning.

It's so good! My family loves it too 💜 We just finished off our first pints of ground venison, I did a raw pack and it was very condensed and a pain to break up. I will definitely take your wisdom and partially cook it next time. Thank you so much!

I have canned pork, deer, beef, and chicken with no problem eating any of it 2 or 3 years later. With little if any taste quality issues.

Thank you Kim, you can do it!! Venison is one of my favorite things to can, you're going to love it! The meat turns out so tender and it always feels great to have extra freezer space. Plus shelf stable meat!

Hi Iris. I noticed you have your pressure cooker on your glass-top stove. It has always been recommended not to use a glass-top stove for pressure canning. What are your comments on this? I have a glass-top stove and I am scared to use a pressure canner on it for fear of cracking the glass.

Hi Cindy! Great question! Some are safe, and some recommend that you don't. You can find out by looking in manual for the model of stove that you have! Thank you for watching ❤

Thanks for the great video! I'm going to try canning venison this season. Do you think it's still gamey tasting when canned? How do you serve it in your meals?

Thank you for watching! It's not gamey at all! We do bleed/age our deer for 3-5 days in ice and that really helps to improve flavor and reduce the gaminess. I love to use it in vegetable stir frys, it's also geat shredded with BBQ sauce!

I was my jar and sterilize every time no matter what kind of canning I do I hear all the time that you don't have to sterilize your jars if your pressure canning but I guess I'm a bit of old school and I like thing to be clean and the jars are already hot as well just my way of doing thing and my opinion. I never try to tell anyone else how to do there thing just like to share my way.
