Super glad to have caught this. I love Air Fried Chickpeas as a snack. Anxious to see what flavorings you use to make them yummy. I also love chickpeas in withe a garden salad. Such an underrated pea.

I learned so much from this! I've been doing presoaked Bob's Red Mill kamut (a type of wheat berry) and presoaked chickpeas in my instant pot. I soak a cup of each for at least 4 hours (but preferably overnight), then cook them together in salted water for 16 minutes. Then I make a cold salad with them with chopped raw celery, carrots, cucumber, red bell peppers, scallions, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese with a homemade lemon vinaigrette dressing. I just use what I have and wing the amounts, but it's roughly 4 stalks of celery, 2 medium carrots, 1 big English cucumber, 1 red bell pepper, maybe 4-5 scallions or 1 red onion, and 4-6 oz. feta. This makes a few days worth for 1 person. I hate refrigerated tomatoes so I just chop a handful of cherry or grape tomatoes and add them to a portion of salad right before I eat it, rather than putting them in at the beginning. For the vinaigrette I often just throw in a few glugs of olive oil and squeeze in the juice of 1-2 lemons, then add some salt and pepper and mix it up.

I love the idea of the chickpea's in the Ninja. I am getting into making my own pasta, my own pasta sauces, and canning goods because I fear a shortage coming up on food items. Flour went on sale I purchased four large bags things like that.

Love your directions, Louise. How about adding a bay leaf with the stock? It helps my flavor. Got it-no salt when using stock. Shock em in cold bath. Got it.

That's perfectly fine! You can add whatever seasonings you want to the liquid.

Is it better to use cold liquid rather than hot?
@Robin7-262 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I love cooked chickpeas but I would get confused because some recipes say to soak them and when I didn’t they would not come out right so thank you for the different cooking times. 😃

I just needed the cook time for garbanzos prepared in water in order to make aquafaba. It is an amazing egg substitute and there's no reason to buy it or even use the juice from canned. Homemade is best made. Based on the dialog in your video, I bet you've never even heard of it!
@TheSaltedPepper2 жыл бұрын
I have heard of it, but I haven’t made it. That would be a totally different video because the focus is on the liquid, not the chickpeas. From what I understand it’s more reliable to use the liquid from the cans, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experiment. You’ll want a good concentration of the starch from the chickpeas, so I would start with 2 cups of water to 1 cup of beans and PC for 45 minutes with a full natural release. I’ve also heard that adding some cream of tarter before whipping it helps.

If I'm not air frying, should I go for 50 minutes? High or low? I'm using a Ninja, too. These have to be plain without seasoning for my parrots.
@TheSaltedPepperАй бұрын
The time really depends on how soft you want them for your parrots. 45 minutes with a 10 minute natural release is going to give you a soft texture that is easily mashed.
