Hello Louise, I am 72 and a widower. I have had a Foodi for about a year and didn't use it much except for chicken wings a steak occasionally, then I found you videos and you have changed my life. In the past 2 weeks I have made your beef stew, ham & bean soup, beef stroganoff, a whole chicken (from frozen), chicken & dumplings ( i can't believe I made dumplings from scratch!), pot roast, made my own bone broth, ricotta cheese and will try to make your double stacked lasagna tonight (BTW, the MaxRock pans you have an amazon link to are no longer available). I am planning on trying to make some 360 meals, wish me luck. No more carry out! Since I found you I don't need a wife :-) Thanks Louise

I appreciate you going over all these accessories, I haven't bought any extras. I just have what came with my Foodi. Can you show us how if they can be fried or baked in the Ninja Foodi? If I cannot do you have any of your tips on making these light and airy French Cruller pastry delight? Thank you so much for your guidance. We love these donuts but every time we go to Publix’s bakery they only have 1 or 2 left. And for these very same reasons I loved Julia Child’’s shows, and the French Chief on PBS. You have that going for you. It’s always a grand delight hearing what we think is true seen in your videos. Hi Louise, I recently purchased The 8 qt. Ninja Foodi Deluxe and absolutely love it! I was also lucky enough to come across your website - The Salted Pepper. In a word - fabulous!! I am going to buy some aluminum pans and would like your advice as to size. We are a household of 3, with two very big eaters - I found I had to double the rice and beans in the Mexican Pot Roast recipe! So with that said, should I just buy the 8" x 2" pans? Or should I get the 8"x 3" size? I look forward to your reply, as I do your regular emails.
@TheSaltedPepper
@TheSaltedPepper 3 жыл бұрын
You might be able to get 1 that is 2" and 1 that is 3", but I'm not sure if they stack. If you only want to use one at a time, then you will be fine with the 3", but you might have to use the rack in low all the time. I do know that 2 of the 2" will fit stacked in the 6.5qt or the 8qt.

We made a good call. I ran a test by pouring in the pot 4 cups of water. I set it to sear and 20 minutes later, the water only reached 225 degrees. You were right. You and I together proved that we can't deep fry in the foodi. I have to tell you that you are my "go to" person in this topic. You are great as a teacher. My family is amazed at how good a cook "I HAVE BECOME" and you are the reason for this. Keep coming up with new recipes so I can dazzle my family. PS: think my wife figured out that I was watching your videos so I am soon going to get busted that you are my inspiration. You are my inspiration.
@TheSaltedPepper
@TheSaltedPepper 3 жыл бұрын
The boiling point of water and oil are different, so you can't really go by how hot the water gets. When water reaches 212F and begins to boil, it turns to steam and never really gets much hotter unless under pressure. The boiling point of oil varies by oil, but is around 300F, so it is possible that the Foodi would heat oil hotter than it did the water. However, I still only recommend shallow frying or pan frying and of course I never recommend pressure cooking oil. I'm so glad that you are making great meals for your family and I'm honored to be your inspiration!

I got my 11/2019 QVC Black Friday sale OP302H Ninja Foodi ($159.95!) yesterday, and I've been squealing with joy ever since. I have an 8 qt Instant Pot with two stainless steel liners, and I moved the IP under my cabinets (good only for slow-cooking unless I pull it out) and put the NF on my open counter cooking area. I discovered I can saute in the IP liner right in the NF, then move it over to the IP, adding ingredients for soup or what-not, to slow cook or keep warm without dragging the pot out from under the cabinet. The large flat lime-green silicone pot lid works great to sit on the counter beside the NF to hold the pressure-cooking lid, and my rimmed IP-branded silicone lid fits the NF inner pot perfectly! I had bought years ago that four-piece Wolfgang Puck Savarin Pan set, and it fits.

@@nelesonntagodo Not within my cabinet, under it. Up against the wall underneath. Too low to put the big Instant Pot with the cover up in its slot. I have a corner to the right of my stove, to the left of my sink, that I can't really use for working space, so I've got "Papa Bear" (8 qt IP) and "Baby Bear" (3 qt IP) up under the cabinets in that corner. They are stored out of my way that way, but I can still slow cook or keep-warm in the big one. The smaller one, I can store it with the lid up and maneuver to pressure cook in it (my go-to for beans, rice). I just have to have a steam diverter so I don't vent the steam up on the cabinet.

I recently purchased a Ninja Foodi and have been watching all the videos, on this site, with great interest and enjoyment. I headed to Amazon and put in an order for a (non-Ninja) rack, 8ins x 2ins, to use for layering, inside the large pot. An hour after placing my order, I happened to open a kitchen cupboard and my eye fell on the circular, metal rack which came. with my microwave oven. I've never used this rack, in the microwave but it turns out, it fits in my Foodi, beautifully! Luckily, I was able to cancel my Amazon order, but the moral of the story is: Have a good look through your cupboards to see how you can utilise what you already have, before spending more money and using up more kitchen storage space. 😉😉

Thank you Louise - you always have such wonderful ideas everyone can implement to make cooking a true joy! I have a tip for you that I found about pot in pot cooking. I was trying to find a pot big enough to fit in my 8 qt Ninja where I could put a few cups of water on the bottom, then a trivet, and then a big pot where I could make my sauces. I don't like adding all this broth to the spaghetti sauces because that dilutes the flavor of my sauces. So, I found a 3 qt Instant Pot on Amazon (along with a beautiful silicon lid cover) and it fits beautifully in my 8 qt Ninja. I don't know about the 6 1/2 qt Ninja, but this definitely fits my 8 qt. Now I can make my sauces under pressure for that infused flavor without diluting the taste due to water requirements. Then I take the 3 qt pot out, put the lid on it, and store in the refrigerator. It's beautiful! Just go to amazon and search for "Instant Pot 3 quart accessories".

Nice to know information: When baking potatoes outside in or over a campfire, use ALUMINUM nails pushed through the potatoes to conduct the heat to the center of the potato, it cooks more evenly and quicker. Question, how do you determine the heat and time when cooking multiples in the pot?

Have you had a chance to work with the new compact unit? I'm wondering if it's 5 quart size is too small and prevents it from being used for the layered cooking you show in your videos with the rack and also with cake pans. I'm got one for my elderly mom who cooks mostly for one and has a fairly small kitchen.

I discovered that the dehydrator rack can be used with my lunch-size Corelle plates for various things, including just reheating. I'll bet it would work with 9" aluminum pie plates, too, although I have not tried that; does anyone know? (The Corelle plates are oven safe, but they cannot be used with the broiler.) My rack is from Goldlion (I have their slings, too, and love them), and one thing people might not know is that sometimes with a Goldlion purchase they'll include a gift card that will allow you to pick up another item once you review the product you bought on Amazon. That's how I got a 3 qt sling for my IP "Baby Bear."

I've been using the dehydrator rack for my new grill grate and love it! I agree Goldlion has some great stuff! I have their brand in my Amazon store. Thanks for the tips! I never thought about using it for a casserole. 9" pans might be a tad too big though, I'll have to try it.

I really like this canning rack 7.9" you use. Have a question? I noticed at Amazon they have a bit larger ones and I measured bottom so believe an 8.25" would fit and possibly an "8.66" but probably would scratch up. I do think 8.25" would work so what do you think? Thanks. PS.. want to squeeze in the largest smallest frozen pizza in there. :P
