Pressure flaking is an important step in Flintknapping. Often done last in large scale stone tool production, however I routinely pressure flake throughout most stone tool creations. Arrowheads, axes, atlatl dart points...its a continues process. This is the basic method and is for those first time Knappers. Some Knappers use copper and modern tools, and that's totally fine...grow where you are planted. I keep it simple and only use what could be collected in the natural environment.
The Flintknapping kit I used in this video is the same one I sell on my Paleo Tracks Survival Website. Also, October 23/24, 2021 I will be teaching an Ancestral Skills Workshop at the one and only Side Notch Acres in New Mexico. Details and registration at the Paleo Tracks Survival webpage.
Thanks a million for supporting this channel and Trapper Shack Productions! Your time, interests and feedback are important to me. I really want to say thanks to each and every person who likes, subscribes and shares my videos.

Brother you've really helped me learn flintnapping a lot! I've only been following you for a few weeks but I've already made a couple simple arrowheads and one spearhead. I've been walking creekbeds and all through the woods scouring every corner trying to find knappable rock for weeks but haven't had any luck at all, only thing here in east oklahoma is sandstone I think. Anyway watching your videos inspires me man and I appreciate all of the content you put out! Much love!

Finally someone who doesn't uses copper or iron tips for flaking his flint. I asked myself all the time, if there's an all natural material way for if you're just outside without a source of already prossessed metal tools. Not everyone has a smithery in his pockets. Thank you for the great work.

Back home (Deep east Tx), on the back of our property is a creek and I've found literally hundreds of arrowheads, spearheads, and plenty of tools. I found one when I was hunting probably 15 years ago and once I really got into it, I would spend all my days off in the creek and surrounding woods. I've never learned flintknapping, but I would really like to. I've made alot of knifes from scratch, but never with a stone blade. Fucking awesome.

What I am struggling with when pressure flaking is getting my flake scars to cover the whole thing. I can get a piece of flint or obsidian into the basic shape of a point but they still don’t look good. Maybe a video with a little more in depth step by step process would be good. One thing I wish tubers would do is to show the stone before AND after every flake removed and explain why they did it. Anyways, still appreciate this video! Thanks Donny.
