I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience kzbin.infoUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.

Thanks! Love that thermometer. Tip: When carving always cut against the grain. In other words, your knife was going with the grain down from top to bottom. This can cause the meat to "string" into separate long fibers which makes it tough chewing. To go against the grain, you would have to slice sideways across the top from side to side. Saying it that way just to explain but, of course, just flip the roast on its side if you like cutting top to bottom. Cutting that way cuts each fiber into small pieces thus tenderer and easier chewing. Ugh,, I'm sure there's a better way to explain with fewer words. Thanks again. My Foodi is on the way now and I'm looking forward to trying your recipe... looks sooo good! Edit: When a piece of meat is carved with the fiber, people usually cut it across on their plates but some don't realize and tackle chewing the long fibers.

I have the Foodi Grill PRO version so the thermometer and probe are included. I also got the roast rack which I will use when I make this delicious roast this weekend. The beautiful part of having the built-in probe is that I don't have to worry about the TIME....the thermometer will turn off the Grill when the target temp is reached. But just for fun and accuracy I have an independent long cord thermometer which I will insert on the opposite end of the roast just to compare. Will be back to report.
@pressurecrisp
@pressurecrisp 5 жыл бұрын
VOman 07, Pay attention to the time-even thought the Grill will shut off the residual heat will continue to cook the roast. Set an alarm on your phone if your off doing other things. I would definitely use the other one as well. Sometimes I use two thermometers. A cheap one off Amazon, MEATER or one from Thermoworks. Don't forget carry over temp-after it is cooked it will continue to increase in temp. I have had roasts increase fro 5-10 degrees. P.S. This roast made amazing roast beef sandwiches! Thanks VOman 07!
@voman0741
@voman0741 5 жыл бұрын
@@pressurecrisp Your advice is SPOT ON !! I already learned about 'carry-over cooking' the hard way. As soon as I received my FG, i went out and got a Prime Ribeye steak and followed Ninja's food guide (their temps are overstated to protect themselves from food poisoning law suits) and that was a big mistake. I set the temp probe for 130° (medium) and the carryover went all the way to 145°. Destroyed my steak. Next day I went to the butcher and spent a fortune on the 'King' of steaks and brought home an awesome boneless PORTERHOUSE. THIS time I set the temp for 115° and the carryover stopped at 130°....PERFECTION !!!! THE best steak I ever ate.
@pressurecrisp

So sorry about your steak-I just cannot eat a steak that is over cooked-steak snob lol. If you want a perfect steak invest in s Sous Vide by Anova-it will be the most tender steak you will ever have. Sous vide the steak then finish in the grill-delicious! The best way of course is ver hardwood charcoal but its winter-so its a no go for me. And you have to try a dry aged steak as well. I'm working on a 45 and a 60 day dry aged NY strip and Ribeye (doing the whole loin then I will cut into steaks)YUM! The longest that I have done is 31 days. Once you perfect grilling a steak then spend the money on a dry aged steak. Thanks VOman 07!

The pro version cookbook came with a reverse sear roast recipe that gets you nice pink meat from edge to edge! I used the mustard horseradish they give in their recipe and your seasoning, both turned out great! Put your temp meter in. Roast on 250f until it reaches 105 internal. Then stop, switch to roast at 500f, and cook until internal is 125. My own recipe, since I like my meat rare and only reaching 125f rested. is I pull it at 100f internal first stage, cook to 115 second stage, it rests to 125-128. Foodi grill is the only device that can do a full reverse sear with one machine as iirc no other air fryer goes to 500f. Nice sear on the outside, rare on the inside.

I was going to ask what you use to get the oven so clean then realized it's a new oven so, out of curiosity, did the other one malfunction? Also, what do you use to clean it?

I have tried so many. things to. get these appliances clean from Dawn power wash to a and held steamer. I find a Brillo pad and elbow grease. for the appliance and I do use oven cleaner for the screens-usually spry them and play in plastic baggy and let it sit overnight. The hand held. steamer is. good for had to. reach areas but time consuming.

Hi kci517-I use a MERCER knife here is a link to one of them on Amazon amzn.to/2SUFbIr However I do suggest when stores open back up(not sure where you live) go to a kitchen store-Sur La Table, Williams Sonoma or a Mom and Pop kitchen store and try the knife out-what I mean by this is see. how the knife feels in your hand, does it fit nice, feel good, do you like the weight of it. I think a knife is personal-everyones hands are different as well as strength of your hand. I appreciate you asking-I hope this. helps. Thank you kci517!

Good video, simple. Not crazy about the huge hole in the meat from the thermometer. Also a question- I have seen other videos that show a roasting griddle inside the foodie. Do you choose not to use it or you don't have it? Mine does not have it and you have not used it. Obviously comes out just as good. And 4 lbs is not 8 kg :) Thanks for the good vibes, now I know that even I can't mess up a roast!

It all depends on what temp you are cooking at and you have to think of the grill as your oven-would you use olive oil in your recipe that you make in the regular oven? I have always used olive oil for roasts, roasted veg, roasted potatoes. And no smoking doing it this way-scouts honor. Only time the grill smokes for me is when I grill HI, burgers, and when I flip meat-the drippings-drip and burn. Thanks One01Zero!

I gave this some thought-depending on the size of the potatoes and how brown you like them. This roast took 52 minutes-I could have added small round potatoes at the start or if using smaller cut up potatoes could of added them 10 minutes into cook time. I wouldn't oil them as they will pick up the rendered fat from the roast. I will have to make another one with potatoes-lol. Then while the roast is resting you could grill or air crisp up some vegetables. Or add carrots with the roast.

Yes you can-depending on the size of you carrots or potatoes-add them at the appropriate time. I cannot give an accurate time as I don't know the size of your roast or the size of vegetables. But if you were to do the size potatoes in my other video I would add them with about 20 minutes left on the cook time. Carrots (depending on how you like them cooked) either the same time or a little longer. Now if you wanted asparagus-add with about 8 minutes left on cook time. Thanks Marc!

@@lmr2o I embrace the technology that is out there. If I can walk away from the kitchen or BBQ grill but still know what going on via the phone-its fantastic. I'm really enjoying this thermometer-so far I have nothing but good things to say. But I have had it disconnect before but its a quick fix and reconnected in seconds. and it alarms you when it getting close to being done. The one I have is for 33 feet away but there is a hack that you can do to expand the reach or you can purchase the one that works 165 feet away. The only drawback would be that the thermometer is super thick compared to a wired probe so I use this one for roasts but not for a chicken breast.
