Preston Innovations Extremity 620 Feeder Reel Gear Review

Today I've replaced the dog turd Shimano FA 4000 Feeder Reel with a Preston Innovations Extremity 620 Feeder Reel.
This is my initial thoughts about the reel when I have more of a chance to fish with it I will do a more in depth review. But initial thoughts are positive it performed great today.

I happily recommend the tackle shop Fishing Tackle & Bait, www.fishingtac... in Enniskillen Northern Ireland. I'd avoid Trory it's not the best the Kesh end of the lough is excellent are you on a boat or on the bank.

Out the box the impressions were good fishing with it for a while was good throwing a 45g feeder 50m was a breeze no stress sat on a seatbox so I'll have to find a location where I know I've got to put a feeder further than that to catch fish to test it out properly. For £80 you cannot go wrong mate.

Portglenone river bann is fishing well scobie the only draw back is you’ll need a bann systems permit but you will catch plenty

Barry I've not fished the Bann in a long time the hybrids at Portglenone were always a good days sport I'd heard the Bann was throwing up some big Perch any truth to that rumour?

@@DavidScobie Excellent stuff, these seem cracking value for money for a long cast feeder setup. Any concerns with yours so far?

George the old Preston Innovations Dutch Master feeder rods are a thing of beauty man, the 80g one I have can fish at 100m with no worries, paired with a shimano 5500 ultegra reel it was a easy flick to send a 60g feeder to that distance. I deliberately push the tackle to the furtherest point so I know how far it can go, when I fished the big Dutch canals or the German ones you had to fish at 100m to catch the Bream, thankfully we don't have to regularly throw feeders that far. My standard distances are usually 50m to 65m with the 60g Dutch Master rod 65m to 80m with the 80g rod and 80m to 110m with the 130g rod.

Hello! So.. after some time, what is your opinion and feedback on the reel? I want it to pair it up(but the 520 version) with a Preston SuperFeeder Rod and I just want to be sure I'm making the correct decision. Thanks!

Go with the 620 it's a cracking reel for the money mate I've had no issues with it.

Great review David, I think the coating on the feeder braid is probably called “shite” which is the industry technical term. I imagine it won’t do to the guides and line roller any good, deffo crossing Preston feeder braid off the shopping list. But I am thinking of buying the 620 reel, has it stood the test of time, what’s it like 2 years on?

It's still on the go it's still on my medium distance rod, it's a workhorse I have no issues throwing Feeders 50 meters all day long. It was worth the money amego

Hey amego it isn't a bad reel and I like to think I've beaten it up with some heavy use fishing long ranges and heavy feeders OK if I had the money I'd go with a shimano 5500 ultegra like what I have on my 13ft and 14ft feeder rods.
