Im just getting into Pole fishing, this series of videos has been really helpful, thanks Preston and Des!

Hi Des. You made a comment about the rig sitting lower in the water when you get to the venues, more than they do in the shotting tube. I believe this is because the surface tension of the water is greater in the tube, being such a small area, than it is at the venue. You can combat this by adding a little bit a washing up liquid to the tube water, which will reduce the surface tension, and allow the float to sit as it would at the venue. Thanks for the great vids.

Hi I’ve got some 4x16 and 4x18 Des Ship diamond floats and I was wondering what size Stotz to use

No reply i see, horrible when you ask a top pole fisherman a question and you just get blanked (excuse the pun) but it really pisses you off and makes you disheartened because it does me buddy, there on scocial media to put points across and advise us and to be asked questions on that video, so there to busy or just can't be assed, sorry for ranting on but I've asked loads of questions and yea just the same pal, tight lines fella 🇬🇧

Anychance you can make a video using shots?

I just bought my first pole. What distance should I be aiming for between the float and pole tip? And I don't get why like is measured by its thickness rather than its strength. I'm a carp angler so I'm used to buying mainline and hooklenght based on its strength

Around 18inch-2ft is a good starting point to avoid tangles. Line is measured in diameter as it's more accurate :)

I print out a label for each of my rigs and put the float type, weight and colour followed by how many shot it takes. Then if I trash that rig I just copy the shotting without having to go through all that trial and error with a shotting tube. Each float stays with its specific winder.

I have watched this video, am I missing something, please can someone help me, he uses 9 feet of line and is fishing at 4 feet, which means there is going to be 5 feet of line from the dacron connector to the float, yet you need to be about let's say 6-12" from pole tip to the water, leaving loads of loose line???
@UKprestoninnovations5 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. He just sets them up a little longer than he is likely to need in the event of a deeper swim or venue. He just cuts down the length of line to suit the depth.
@chrisbelshaw65615 жыл бұрын
@@UKprestoninnovations does he do this at the venue and then puts a new loop in it?

I am currently using a rod but in the future I would like to use a pole. In the near future I want to start match fishing and I have read that pole brings fish in faster and it catches more because its easier to set the hook x Any tips for when I begin
