This is great, I love this piece! You recorded it without the delay? I'm watching on my terrible phone speaker so I can't tell for sure. Anyway, I think this is my new favourite version of the piece. Thanks Preston.

Without the delay the song is just "Train"

Tuning is DADGAD. If you're learning this, I recommend slowing down the video to 1/2 or 1/4 speed so you can (try to) pick up some of the technique he's using. AMAZING guitar work! I'm learning it now!

I am using Jim Dunlop .025 gauge fingerpicks and a Golden Gate large thumbpick. Two of the fingerpicks have gaffer tape on them to prevent accidental snagging on the strings.
@Noxious9224 жыл бұрын
Hi Preston! You are an inspiration, thank you! What tuning is this? I would like to experiment with it!
@trewq3983 жыл бұрын
Can someone explain why preston uses fingerpics for this songs specifically? Do you need them for the tapping sound? Or is just easier to fingerpick this way?

Admirable! taking the acoustic guitar qualities at his full potential, dominating the instrument. And also such a sensitive soul to make that breathtaking piece!

It’s amazing you you use the string buzz as a purposeful tone during the intro/outro section. It gives the train impression very clearly, slowing down and then starting up again at the end. Beautiful as always

Gotta love music for what it is. My music teacher in high school laid it out in a few short words.(Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, for reference.) All created metal/hard rock, they just had simpler instruments, apply the same scales to anything amped, and it can be a mean tune. xD

@PrestonReedT8 жыл бұрын
Hi CakeWarden. I don't think it has been transcribed yet, but do check the transcriptions page at prestonreed.com for a tune called "Train". It is an earlier version of "Delayed Train" with many of the same ideas.
@CakeWarden8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to reply Preston Reed. I can't find a transcription for Train though. I hope it appears on your site in the future. Lots of others to look through, always a pleasure to attempt to learn one of your songs, definitely a rewarding process!
