I remember this situation differently. A new girl came. She was probably Chinese. Quite, reserved and didn't really talk with anyone. I at the time loved pokemon and got three of the pokedex books at the time. Spent the entire recess reading them at the tables near the bathrooms. Then when she arrived she sat at those tables just looking around. Then one of the watchers told me to hand her a book cause she seemed curious about them. I handed her one, and she read. Then I'd always hand her one whenever i was out there at recess. Eventually, I'd stop reading them and play with the guys. She also eventually made friends and played with the girls at handball.
