Obviously were still well short of having all the capabilities of PC version but it is certainly enough to make great looking cities although it obviously still not were the quality of some of the awesome and realistic cities of PC. There is a big announcement for the console players on January 31 and I am very excited about it. FPS really seems to tank if you have major traffic issues, especially when I hit the 80-100K population point. Learning how to utilize public transit, and planning for good road hierarchy has helped a lot.
@johnterpack39406 жыл бұрын
I started having trouble with mine at about 70k. I didn't even think about the traffic. I don't have any problem areas but I don't have a lot of public transport either. So maybe too many pedestrians and private vehicles are causing my problems. I'll work on some bus lines and see if that helps. I do have several metro lines running. But that obviously leaves people getting to and from the stations.
@bolland836 жыл бұрын
Buses seem to only add to my problem with traffic. Planning for dedicated pedestrian and bike paths that connect major areas, along with a metro or monorail network seems to work pretty well without disrupting traffic. For remote areas or a city that's spread out, a train line works pretty well also. I suspect the vehicle count is what's causing the slow down for me, I typically end up with a ton of industrial traffic. I've been experimenting with boosting education to try and utilize more offices instead of industrial areas, not sure yet if it's going to work. I may still end up with a ton of delivery vehicles clogging up the roads.
@mephInc6 жыл бұрын
The game simulating a car or a person is same-same. The more going on, the harder it's going to be to process. As far as industrial/commercial traffic, it really helps to not have large blocks of either. Spread them out. It also helps cut down on the traffic if you limit the small (1x1) buildings from forming. Say you have a narrow strip of boxes to zone (1x?). Don't do it. You'll end up with a boatload of tiny buildings and each will generate just as much traffic as a 4x4. If (as you should) you separate your industry into small sections throughout your map, it'll also help to connect them with cargo train terminals. It'll cut back on trucks traveling all over the map and they'll instead just go to the nearest terminal and the goods will be shipped across the map.
@johnterpack39406 жыл бұрын
@@bolland83 try adding more cargo terminals if you haven't already. Industrial areas will send trains to each other and commercial areas since it is more efficient than trucks. It's fun to see trains pulling into a depot and see that they are from another depot nearby.

For the life of me, I cannot find it anywhere. The closest I found was a suburb road pack, but to force the cutout I would have to make a T-intersection because it only does it as a crosswalk, whereas your screenshot seems to be for an actual driveway. Pres - How do you remove house needs? Like water, electricity, etc... If I use ploppable RICO I need to use areas otherwise they disappear. If I use Find it, they need these things, otherwise will be abandoned.
@ageoflove19806 жыл бұрын
More of a beginner tip : Find a map you really like and let the landscape inspire you. Then use the unlock all tiles mod and remove all existing roads, railroads etc from your building area. I always make temporary roads connecting my city to the outside world untill i figure out what my highway systeem is going to be like. This will give you the freedom to start planning. Also, i dont plan everything at once. It will be too much like work and it will burn me out. So i usually start with something i look forward to developping, like a nice seafont wirh a big boulevard with a beach , an industral area with a nice big port or some relaxing suburb with a forest and some lakes. Usually when this is done my city sort of develops from these areas into a real city in a natural way. This will keep things interesting for me. So plan ahead, but not too much, because in the end its about having fun.
