Basically you want your cims throwing soup at your art. Seriously though, this video was amazingly well done and I love the fact that when you brought up issues, you suggested possible solutions rather than just complaining.

It says a lot about how bad the planning mechanics actually are when you realize that if they added parking to the game, it would probably make it damn near impossible to accomplish anything. What car-centrism does to a mfer.

This is CS2. What it should be. Wished they had just BUUILT upon cs1 and improved it further. Add these as base and it be killer. Cs1 is so disgusting.

Love this video because I completely agree with a lot of what you said. What's interesting about a lot of what you mentioned walkability accessibility parking lots etc I definitely given a lot of thought into my city now. And this is probably my sixth city. But this one I'm not doing unlimited anything and I'm just practicing slow growth kind of like what you mentioned. And really try not to mow down old historical neighborhoods. 😊 I've even gone as far as separating different neighborhoods with different districts so some might be some of the greener more high tech houses, but then I have some that are more of the old school houses. I've even gone as far as since there are no medium density buildings in city skylines one, of historically preserving the look of certain building so I can get more diversity in the look of my city Great video by the way

maybe the city i am building is in a dictatorship where everyone must do as I say and never question any demand I make. i want cities full of skyscrapers. no parks, no monuments, no zoos just 100-story office buildings

I do wish it didn't shove cars down your face so much but to say there's no punishment for car dependency is just not true. Public transport and pedestrian paths are the only way I can reliably reduce traffic in the long-term, and I feel like it simulates induced demand pretty well (intentional or not). Try making a city with little to no driving alternatives and it will go to shit very quickly most of the time. If anything CS made me even more against car dependency

hello I love your ideas. Have you tried CS II? Did any of your ideas happened to be addressed in there? I did not buy the game yet due to its unavailability on mac so I don't have idea of its new features. Thanks for making us realize some great points mayors are missing in CS I.

Interesting video, but I do disagree on a few points: The game does encourage walkability and good public transport as that reduces traffic flow significantly. Also, aesthetics choices of the in-game people are somewhat there as parks near homes increases happiness significantly. I would like to see pedestrianised streets tho. The progression of the game as population increases helps the player not get overwhelmed, but there should be an option for veteran players with everything unlocked and a higher starting budget.

It's city building focused simulation, not political and social simulation though, i'm not sure it would be good if we should accustom the game mechanism into that, but it would be interesting though if we had mod on that, and there's thing called Cities Skylines 2, i've seen a mixed zone buildings, you might be interested in that.
@tracycui38006 ай бұрын
In City Skylines 2, only the political side and displacement are still present as a problem, because most people build stuff that are accesible by transit and walkable, zoning is fixed, just to name a few, people do assign history for the city to make sense
@tracycui38006 ай бұрын
Politics is a great suggestion. It will definitely not be like having dental and tax updates in Minecraft. It will definitely not become political simulator 2024.

Hi, Im new to cities skylines and i was wondering, when building the avenue, you were able to select the individual building? I know that they are not included in vanilla, so are these some kind of unique buildings that come with the DLC or ist there a way to built individual buildings without zoning? Hope someone sees this since the video is so old haha
@ChimpingBulldog7 ай бұрын
To be honest the criticisms of a lack of political involvement are pros for the majority of players. Who wants to get bogged down with bureaucracy? Still, the idea of there being a pre-existing city or brownfield site is a good one. Always feels a bit too divorced from reality. Perhaps the makers should take a leaf from Transport fever, with Brown fields can be redeveloped and connected to each other and existing ports and infrastructure. There should be more architectural.choices built-in, rather than modded designs you can just plonk down.
@Chris_Cross7 ай бұрын
While I don't really want something as politically charged as "climate change" in my game, a lot of these points should really be added to CS2. I know they added some elements to some extent like car collisions and mixed zoning, they could really do with adding a lot of the rest of the elements discussed
