I want to go out on a limb and say cosmetic surgery not related to gender is a lot less necessary, for most people…although I do see some parallels to people who have, say, a large nose, so people make stupid assumptions about their personality because of it. I don’t think people should have to go through that, either.
@silverghostcat192410 сағат бұрын
@@sciencenotsrigma true, but I'm talking about people with body dysmorphia not connected to gender per say. More like the ladies that get breast implants to the point they're putting their health at risk, carrying more weight than is safe and still they're not happy with the way they look. Or someone who has so many plastic surgeries they don't look human anymore. I understand there's a large body modification community, but my question is how much of the surgeries stem from a deep self loathing rather than a desire for a different aesthetic. It's one thing to have your nose tweaked so you can breathe easier or it looks better and another to have it completely removed so you look like an alien.
@hannajung75126 сағат бұрын
@@silverghostcat1924the bizarr thing is: in most cases plastic surgery is a form of gender affirmation. Reconstructive surgery is not allways, but even the nose job example is done because the nose shape is considered not appropriate for one gender... man rarely have nose jobs to make them smaller for example, or remove a bump...

So, are you fine with being called things like a "person with vagina" and "non-prostate owner" instead of "woman"? Are you fine with sharing public showers with a so called trans woman, which is basically a male? Will you be okay with your granddaughter having to share public showers a dressing rooms with an adult male? Do you think it's fine that women in women's shelters, who are there because they run from violence from their male spouse or boyfriend, or because they were raped by a male, have now to accept a male in their shelter? Do you think it's fine that female inmates in prison have to deal now with a trans women, AKA males, being with them in prison? Some of them are being incarcerated for severe sexual offences? More than one such inmate already got pregnant from this. Do you think it's fine trans women, AKA males, are competing in women's sport (women's teams, women's category)? Do you think it's fair? They obviously have a significant physiological advantage over the women, aka females? Do you think it's fine that trans women or so called "trans girls", can get into women's or girls' bathrooms right now? Are you okay with a teenage boy accessing the same bathrooms your teenage granddaughter use? Do you think it's fine that so called trans women or even "non-binary transfem" - both are males - who has being grown up as boys and became men - in other words, had male socialization and got to wherever they got as men - and only come out as trans women or as non-binary in a few years top, are now getting awards that are meant for women, aka females? Are you fine with your teenager granddaughter taking cross-sex hormones and chopping off her breasts? Are you fine with your grandson having a surgery to invert his penis so he could have something that esthetically kind of looks like a vagina? Do you know what the rate of severe complications is on these kinds of surgeries? I can go on and on. Are you okay with any of that? Because this is the reality of "gender identity" and "gender affirming care" and all the things Jammie here is pushing for, not the "80's advertisement for coffee with a prefect beautiful loving family" version Jammie presents.

As a parent, I understand how uneducated parents can be uncomfortable with children transitioning. the thought of children making potentially permanent changes to their bodies before their brains have developed is scary because we want to prevent our children from harm. but it's pretty easy to tell who is actually transphobic and who is misinformed when you explain the realities of health care for trans children.
@rebeccajesse460418 сағат бұрын
Yes! These bigots feed on the understandable fear and concern parents have about the safety and happiness of their kids and that’s a certain level of evil. Also, Some parents think they can control who their child is, they see them as extensions of themselves, and that is a different and confounding problem. But yeah, usually the answer to fear/misguidance is education and conversation so it really sucks that one think the transphobes are attacking is schools and awareness.

True. I absolutely think trans kids should be able to wear what they want and use the pronouns they are comfortable with( its not permanent, so no harm done if they think that's not what they want) but hormonal and surgical interventions should be reserved for adults. It’s really sad how you can’t believe what people say online, because you don’t know what interests are behind it. I have no doubt people are being paid off. Often, even when people are sharing their real experience, whoever runs a channel (TV or YT) will edit it, to make it fit their commentary, when the interviewee doesn’t even agree with the creator’s thesis. I was friends with a woman who had been trafficked, and she learned not to give interviews to religious groups, because they would make it into a story of a fallen woman’s fall from grace and redemption. She was literally kidnapped at 13 years old, and told her parents wouldn’t want her back, after what an adult forced on her, it’s a sick world of interest groups; out there!

Yep. Like somehow trans men are lost lesbians (even those exclusively attracted to men) trying to erase womanhood by trying to not be women, but also trans women are erasing womanhood by trying to be women? Somehow "trying to be a woman" and "trying not to be a woman" are both erasing women??? (To be very clear I'm in no way saying trans women are "trying to be women" or vice versa, they are women, I'm just using the phrasing they would use)

@EzraPlutoCharles16 сағат бұрын
The two cis women who pretended to be trans women really frustrated me. That's not how it works. You can't be trans to the gender you were assigned at birth. That's the whole point. It's that your gender deviates from what you were assigned. Even if you still identify mostly with your assigned gender but a little bit with another, that still counts. Someone who presents very much as their assigned gender and uses the typical matching set of pronouns but feels a little non-binary. It's your life experience to define. Every single human, ever, experiences their gender differently. The problem is the clear misconstruing of what being trans is. Many transphobes, unwittingly or with malicious intent, publicly state incorrect interpretations of what being trans is. Another issue, as you did speak on, is that trying to limit or completely get rid of gender affirming care affects many cis people as well. They don't understand how much of what lots of people do is GAC. Hair care (head and body). Wearing clothes that make you feel comfortable. Most of what trans identifying/questioning children usually get in terms of GAC is that stuff that all kids get, plus changing their name and pronouns to some that make them feel more themselves. That is what most trans adults do too. A small percentage of trans adults are actually taking hormone replacements. A smaller amount have had 1 gender affirming surgery. Even smaller group have had 2+. I know that a lot of trans people don't even come out to their families or even start presenting as the gender they identify with until they are legal adults. That was how my experience was. I came out at 18. All my trans friends didn't come out til adulthood as well. There are many cis people with hormonal imbalances who need to supplement because their body doesn't produce enough of one or the other. There are cis women with high testosterone levels. You're hurting them. There are cis men with high estrogen. You're hurting them. A man is balding? There goes hair growth treatments. A woman wants to shave her legs? There's no razors. Makeup? Gone. They should really care about this one: Viagra. That's gender affirming care. Oh, you're too old and can't get it up anymore? Too bad, so sad. I hate to bring this up because I don't want to make intersex people feel like a talking point in trans arguments as they usually do, but intersex people exist in many variations on this spectrum. Whether it be a hormonal imbalance, different set of chromosomes, mix of secondary sex characteristics. Most people who are born intersex, if it is visible, the doctor's and/or parents make the decision to give these newborn babies major surgeries so they can appear 'normal'. If these people actually cared about children getting major gender changing surgeries, they should be worried about the countless intersex babies that actually have these decisions stripped from them. The fact that that woman said the goal is now to ban adults from access to GAC just proves it. It was never about the children.
