The porch post and the beautiful corbels🥰, be still my heart! Why oh why couldn’t someone save those? I love the gingerbread porch decor on all these old abandoned beauties. The door plate was also a beauty. The coat on the hall wall hook. Seems like there’s always a forgotten left behind piece of clothing or shoes. Left in the very last spot of the person that left it there. I’m such a sentimental soul when it comes to the left behind everyday used material items. Thank you Kappy for another great video. Thanks for letting me tag along again on another one of your adventures.

I think the lack of "modern" hvac and plumbing dooms these places. Plus isolation and poor internet access. Very expensive to retro fit.

@@williebeamish5879 most definitely! I know people who have spent a great deal of money on getting those very modern things installed in these old houses. It takes a very big wallet to upgrade and repair these homes.

This house is a unique mansion of it's own kind. In fact, it must have been really nice and sassy, during it's heydays or it's prime time. That Philco télévision set was manufactured by non other than the Ford Motor Company and it dates back to 1960-61. A real treasure gem and such an utterly time capsule, despite all the decaying as well as for the disrepair. I sincerely hope that one day, they will restore this mansion... hopefully soon enough! Thank you very kindly for this marvelous presentation, Kappy. Like i always said, among all the other KZbin abandoned exploring chanels, you're truly and remarkably one of the very best! Better to pour ones energy in to a lovely old home that is amazing n decent shape and wouldn’t take hundreds of thousands to restore. Ont. Canada. What a fascinating story this home must have. Looks like it came down to the little paneled room. That duct tape holding the ceiling fixture. And the curly lightbulb. There’s def a story there. And then the back of the house collapsed. Ouch. That whole area of Virginia is so interesting and sad. Mostly poor or well to do historically. I think this house went full circle. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

I'd love to have that woodwork and those doors to put in our old turn of the century farmhouse. Ours was badly remuddled with paneling, drop ceilings, and "mo-ho" trim and cheap hollow core doors prior to our purchase. Still ripping that stuff out after 2 decades of working on it (ourselves) to restore it. Lots of work.

Indeed. A Stairway like that to make easily would cost couple of thousands. Solid wood Doors and Frames are pretty expensive too. Even the windows could be saved(some of the m) due to the heavy varnish. That Tv is 70 years old(50s-60s). It's a piece of history as much as antique cars of the era are.

Right at 2:31 after you entered the house... You can see a ghostly Willow wisp orb fly in a curved manner towards the camera and go up to the right. It's really cool. Your style is unique.....don't change it plz.

Great find in Danville. The house is calling to you to come visit. The woodwork is simple but absolutely elegant and beautiful. The double balconies in the front of the house. Large bright rooms. The fireplace downstairs was awesome. So ornate in it's simplicity. The care given in the construction allows us a glimpse of the past. If only she could recite her history. You can see the grace of this old home thru the natural decay. It's very photogenic and it's got good vibes. It's a great video, thanks for sharing it with us.

These vids are amazing! I’ve found I have to view them with the attitude of “think of all the wonderful/loving moments the residents of these homes had over the years that the home was alive and well! “. And not let myself dwell on the sadness of it left to crumble down. Even some of the antique furniture pieces in some of these homes are so formal (as ppl did formal entertaining back in the day) that they may be very difficult to sell even if an antique dealer got ahold of them. Restoring these old homes get so expensive, it’s prohibitive to most ppl these days.

Why all these places you find just rotting. It should be a crime in this country to let these historic places fall apart like that. Give them to people who will take care of them. I would’ve for sure! Someone give me a beautiful home before leaving it to rot😃. Id even relocate for the one! I’d be the caretaker no problem. The money I spend keeping up this ugly modern home i could definitely use to keep up a beautiful home like that.

This beautiful place decayed right along with it's previous occupant. We had mud dauber nests in PA as well. Yeah, that used to be the kitchen. It has the big pantry along side it. The former owner probably would have enjoyed having someone appreciate his home and would have been glad to tell stories about it. I've met so many lonely old people who just want someone to talk to. Unfortunately for this house, It is definitely past the point of saving. On the front door, that was a faceplate. It was beautiful as is the door itself and all the other woodwork. Please, someone salvage the good stuff. What a peaceful, serene spot that was.

I can just imagine this home when it was loved and cared for . A family and Mom and Dad or Grandpa and Grandma sitting out on the port home sipping lemonade or ice tea relaxing or relaxing and reminiscing about the day’s past . I think if someone bought this house right today and stripped it down to the studs they might be able to save the ornate staircase banister as well as the details on the balcony gingerbread I think it’s called . Do you ever wish you could buy up some of these properties and either fix them for yourself or fix them and flip them ? Some of these homes I imagine the owner/s died with out a living relative still living .

❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰This is such a charming house! Its verandahs make you want to don your best Gunny Sax dress and sit down to tea in a comfy rocking chair! Perhaps Mozelle sat there waiting for her Oscar to return from town. How sad that the inside looks so bad and has been so disrespected by the house's previous visitors! Clearly, the passage of years and the ravages of the mountaintop weather have not been kind to this beauty. It appears that the plate on the front door may have been for a doorknob, as there is a center hole which has been filled with caulk or putty. It would have been so lovely in its original state. The actual doorknob and its plate are amazing, with the double key locks. I wonder if it was an early form of a deadbolt lock? It might have been nice to see that detail, or maybe I'm just fascinated with details! How unusual to see that type of lock, but it might have been necessary, considering the remote location of the house. Those back rooms are so filled with light, it would've been wonderful to wake up to the green serenity of the forest just outside the window. I get a strange feeling of sadness about this house. I wonder if Mozelle resided there in the beautiful house Oscar built for them to live in after their marriage. Not many men would build such feminine touches as those lovely front porches, but he would add them for his beloved Mozelle. Perhaps the handwriting on the kitchen door jamb was Oscar's way of honoring his departed but still beloved Mozelle, hoping that someone would read his message and know that they lived and loved and shared their lives in this pretty little house on the mountaintop. Though it's hard to read, the words say "To someone too sweet to sleep alone, Oscar loves Mozelle." Let's hope that, wherever they are, Mozelle sleeps once more in her beloved Oscar's arms and Oscar still loves his sweet Mozelle. Somehow, I think she loves him, too

If I had all the money in the world I would go all over the country saving these beautiful homes. But alas I have not all the money in the world. So I and my hubby have been working on our 1916 farmhouse way out in the country for 28 years now. She has needed alot of work. And it seems like when you have some money, you dont have time to work on it. When you have the time, you dont have the money. Guess that's how it goes. We are working on our mudroom/canning pantry right now. It's getting almost done. Cant wait! Since I have waited 28 years for this room to get done. Patient arent I?

These old homes make my soul cry for a different time. Like that song by Montgomery Gentry called "Gone"....."Gone like a freight train, gone like Super Man, gone like a 59 Cadillac....like all the good things that ain't never coming back......."
