Good old Tom T. Huge star back in my day. He is missed😢

There's a video on KZbin somewhere, where Dave Evans talks about himself and Tom T having a discussion about how they would like things to be when it came their time, this song came out of that conversation if I understood it correctly. During my travels I've been in places far away from the green hills where I grew up, so I've played this one many many times both by Dave and Tom T..

I loved Tom T. I loved his songs, his gentleman demeanor, his professional shows, interviews, and he was just an overall good man. He was gifted, and intelligent, so I was shocked that of all people, he would end his own life like that, at age 85! They say he was depressed since Ms Dixie's passing. Ok, I can believe that. But I also learned he was taking anti-depressant drugs. And Ah Ha! Have you ever seen, in fine print, all the side e🎉ffects at the end of those ads? Including 'may cause suicidal tendencies'? 🤔

He was a great man...i remember seeing him at Jett Williams husbands funeral. I remember Jeanne Pruett was there as well...sad day for me as i remembered Keith, him and jett were a good team, he pushed her, drove the bus and all. Shame she gave it all up...

Never got to see Jett preform, I did get to met her. She was scheduled to play a gig that got rained out. I had the pleasure to set and chat wit none other than the one and only Don Helms for a good hour. It passed like it was 10 minutes. Everyone else was asking him the same questions he has answered about Hank a million times. He got to me and I asked him about playing steel guitar and his eyes lit up. When they announced the gig was canceled Jett came out and shook the hands of everyone that had come out to see her. I thought that was a very classy thing to do. She seemed genuinely appreciative we had come out and sorry the show was canceled. If she was faking that, let's just say she has a future in politics because I was convinced. She said she hoped we would be able to catch them some other time. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I offered to help Don pack up his gear, he politely declined. I wish I had thought to have him sign something but at least I have the memories. This was back before smart phones. I didn't even have a cell phone. Most people didn't.

@@1978garfield Miss Jett is a very talented, classy and sweet lady, i also met Don when I was about 10 years old at his birthday party at the hank wlliams musem in Montgomery. He and my Uncle Lynn (Owsley), were best friends. Don was the one that got Uncle Lynn his job as a Texas Troubadour playing steel for Ernest Tubb in 74.
