“Pretty Grim” | Are You Optimistic About Labour Government?

Rachel Reeves has insisted she was optimistic about the UK’s economic future as she attempted to persuade critics that there would be no return to austerity under Labour.
The Chancellor will address the Labour Party conference later on Monday as she attempts to strike a more upbeat tone following months of stressing the need to take “tough decisions” to deal with the legacy she inherited from the Tories.
Political and communication strategist Jo Tanner joins Talk’s Ian Collins to discuss this further.

The bank should've been nationalised in full. Then recapitalisation and sold off at the appropriate time. Instead we did the recapitalisation without getting hold of the capital to refund us - a really bad deal that's lost billions.

Weren't we left in a similar position when Labour left power before. It would be lovely not to have to listen to the blame game and for once hear something positive. Life is difficult enough as it is. We hear about investors leaving our country. Who will want to invest listening to this. Same old politics, blame everyone and do little to square the circle. Pensioners have been targeted because most didn’t vote labour. They are an easy target and don’t have much of a voice. They choose to pay teachers, train drivers doctors etc. yes I agree the first and last groups deserve more, but train drivers really! The elite politics are far removed from the struggle the working people have to endure. Free heating, gifts and junkets a very sad state of affairs for their poor efforts to date. They are very unlikely to get a second term.
