The other attraction of John Hughes films was the fact that they all had great soundtracks.

I will Forever love this movie. John Hughes really knew what he was doing. All of the characters were relatable. How can you not Love Duckie? I loved his wardrobe, it worked perfectly and Jon could get away with it. Some people can't wear wild clothes like that, it doesn't suit them but it totally worked for Duckie. They actually, really nailed the wardrobe for everybody in this movie. Great Job for making such an Timeless Classic movie.

I agree. The clothes were like the 4th main character in this movie. I loved them! They were vintage but so 80’s at the same time. I remember being “dressed” by a stylish college friend for an important first date--big shoulder pads, high pointy collar with an oversized broach at my collarbone--I felt just like Molly Ringwald.

Molly was, is & will forever be the Queen of the 80’s! There was no one else like her in fashion, hipster style, talent & especially great hair & to-die-for lips! You always wanted Molly to win, get the guy, while maintaining her cool girl status.

I witnessed Molly’s bullying in school and I thought it was so wrong, terrible and unfair. We shared a mutual friend and I knew she was a nice girl. ❤

I grew up with Molly on the original cast of The Facts of Life. Her character’s name was Molly. She was so young! It was incredibly satisfying to witness her growing up, becoming The It Girl of the 80’s. She was so unique, stylish, poised, humble & had an old Hollywood grace. I definitely wanted to be like her 🌹❤️

. Interesting to hear........but on the flip side, a bit sad to find out that Jon Cryer (at least according to him in his book, "So That Happened"), was not treated especially well by either Molly Ringwald, or Andrew McCarthy, while making this film. Not that he was treated harshly by either of them.......but kind of just like his character in the movie (i.e., how he was looked at and treated by most of the other students in the school), neither of them made much of an effort behind the scenes to be especially friendly towards him, for whatever reason. In contrast, he has nothing but good things to say about John Hughes, the director (Howard Deutch), and James Spader ("Steff")! Always interesting (to me, anyway) to find out just who does, and doesn't "click" on movie and TV show sets when the cameras AREN'T rolling..... 🤔 .

@@sdne1959 wow. I certainly didn’t mean any disrespect to Jon Cryer! He has been a long time favorite of mine through movies & tv. He’s had a much more successful long term career! Don’t get me started on how overlooked Spader is in terms of appreciation for his work…. I was simply commenting on my own personal opinion of an actress, who was also told she wasn’t “hot enough” for years, yet had amazing style & strength that young girls like me looked up to. Didn’t intend to hit a nerve. ✌🏽

@@sdne1959 I did read his book. And McCarthy’s. They both talk about how they both were a bit egocentric with their young fame & how they perceive things differently now, after maturing a bit. You should watch “Brat”., you probably already have.

@@Noneya2023 . Nope, I get it. Just wanted to put that "on the record", since I too was surprised to find that out reading his (i.e., Cryer's) book.....though I did NOT read Andrew McCarthy's book (however, I am somewhat interested now, based on your comments!). Thanks !! 🙂 .

Marilyn Vance nailed the preppy look. I grew up in Southern California at that time & that was exactly what that clique wore. Wayfarers, Izod & Polo shirts. Khakis (pegged) & dock siders with no socks…. Your quintessential coked up douche born into old money.

3:21 Where I went to Highschool I really don't recall anyone focusing on the class system. I visited Morristown, NJ and a pub I went to the townies were one side and the rich kids on the other. I was on the road and I walked into the place with my La Jolla sweatshirt 😂 they were ALL staring at me. I asked for a glass of ice water, the bartender called me a big spender! I'm like Jesus I'm driving!? Gave the punk a five dollar tip. I wanted to stand on the Bar and say you Mo-Fos wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my relatives fing boat huggers. I had never experienced that class system crap. But, yeah it's pretty nuts.

Prettier In Pink...I'd go see it. Andie's a respected designer with a couple of kids (who are completely different) one is masculine, and one is a snob like the girls she went to school with, but she straightens out the snob and polishes the more masculine one. Oh, here's the twist, she's friends with Steph because he grew up and got his head out of his backside.
