Thanks! I see your wood splitting shorts all the time which reminds me of my teenage years on my aunts campground north of Park Rapids in north central Minnesota, where I lived for a few years after getting in trouble back in the big city about almost 50 years ago now. Part of my “rehabilitation“ was cutting enough firewood to heat the campground store and the house on the lake where I was so lucky to live for a time. I just watch your “Isn’t it nice” video which made me long for those days again. I especially loved the relationship you share with Bambi. I’ve had that kind of special bond with a few dogs (and cats). Makes me think I should adopt another. I’ll definitely be watching more of your longer videos and continue watching the short wood splitting video’s too😊

I love the video and I think my cat does too!! We were cuddled up on the couch when I started to play this video on the tv, his eyes were glued to the screen the entire time! I don't know whether to keep watching this on my big screen just to take it in or to just close my eyes and listen. I think I'll just have to do both. I haven't been in snow for over 50 years now (yeah, living in Hawaii we have other things, but snow in the forest is it's own special feeling). We also rarely see water without waves on the shore, so there is always movement and sound. Here, it's stillness both to eye and ear.

Used to have a long haired white German shepherd called Sasha. Once it snowed on Dartmoor (southwest UK) so i took her up there for a walk and threw snowballs for her to chase, the look of confusion on her face when she couldn’t find them was priceless!

Best part about a new house and job will be the chance and money to escape into nature again... sure hanging out with the jackdaws is nice but damn... it's been years since i got to crawl onto a boulder, climb a tree or study an anthill. Love watching your vids... they do always fill me with a bit of sadness tho.. I can see it all... but there's no smells, no slick touch of the algue on the rocks. no big stone for me to roll over and see what cute critters live under there. think i'm like the grass that's under a tile... either i grow enough to escape to the sunlight, or i'm gonna wilt right here. It is hard to believe it has been almost 50 years since I took a ferry to Salt Spring Island, later on to Victoria. We went to Salt Spring looking for Rhodonite, a fellow told us there was a pink rock up the road, we drove a bit , came to a fork, and there, in the middle of the fork, was a boulder of about 1 tonne of the stuff. (Cuts really nice for jewellery) We took maybe 2 pounds. Looking back I could wonder about the whole ethics of rockhounding, I mean it's not like it grows back. But it did get us outside, and loving a quiet walk in the wood sometimes.

The arbutus is a pretty cool tree. I did a quick little search on it when you mentioned it a few months ago. Found it really cool how it can grow over water or off cliffs. I don’t quite understand why evolution chose this route but it's cool it did. What I find more fascinating is the root system it must have in order to be able to grow so far out with so much weight acting on it. The itty bitty pine trees are adorable. When you showed it… I thought… I don’t think I’ve never taken the time to notice them. I haven’t walked a lot in the forest/trail during winter time. I do enjoy gearing up and walking through white out blizzards but it’s always been in the city. Anyway, that was cool and I would like to find one myself now. (Loving the little Bambi moments) When you played with sweet Bambi in the snow, it reminded me of a cute beagle I know. She loovvvess the winter and snow. I would make a bunch of snow balls and she would try to catch them. A few times I got her too excited and teased her by keeping it in my hand as she tried to jump for it. She accidentally clipped my hand and it would break the skin but small and totally my fault. I would want to continue playing but I swear she knew she hurt me. Just immediately did not want to play anymore even if she was excited a split second ago. I think a lot of dogs are super in tuned with us. Speaking of in tuned lol. Omg the little clip of you singing hallelujah was lovely. @9:19 I think you were on key (term?). I always find it impressive that people can do that. I do not have that skill but it is something I wish I did lol. Loved the oldies but goodies you chose to show us - especially Of Monster and Men - Little Talks.

I once lived in BC for 4 years and, up to 2020, I would travel back to the island for the holidays and rent a little cabin in Uclulet and build a fire in the wood stove and play guitar for my dogs ❤ BC is such a beautiful place.
