The "pretty privilege" starts for girls already in kindergarden which is quite frankly really scary. The pretty girls get all the leading roles in school plays and are always picked over the less pretty ones to participate in social activities. Even when they lack skills to do it, their beauty compensates for it. As a 5-6 year old, I could never figure out why I was never picked to be Cinderella or even her Godmother even though I was a pretty good actress, could read flawlessly, memorise my role and speak very well. Every time I suggested to my teachers that I really want that role, they downplayed me or laughted at my attempt, then gave me a minor role where I only talked one sentence and was supposed to dress up or paint my face. Then I stopped asking, stopped trying to get picked, became really shy and timid, not wanting to participate in anything at all anymore.

Same shit happened in my school. The pretty popular girl who couldnt sing worth SHIT was picked to play Belle and the girl who had the best voice in the choir was cast as Mrs pots. Why? Because she wasnt as pretty and wasnt as petite. They even removed all the singing from the dialogue (cuz our Belle couldnt hold a tune). Made for a pretty awful play production. It would have been way better to just have a tone deaf Belle. Same girl got the leading role for every play. The rest of us just stopped trying out and dropped drama club.

I learned pretty privilege existed when I was the ugly girl with glasses growing up, until one day in the 5th grade my cousin did my hair, gave me a cute headband, took off my glasses and put me in a genuinely cute and trendy outfit and everyone thought I was the prettiest girl in school. And on a regular basis when I take off my glasses. People get so stunned. Life really is generally nicer for attractive people.

Pretty privilege is just that. No one put a sex to it. I wasn't even knocking the guy, more power to him. I owned a legitimate model house. I had to hire security to keep men away because once people figured out the location, they would constantly drive up to the front door in hopes of meeting models. There’s a misconception though. The models weren’t used as eye candy in clubs, it was where they were housed when they arrived from another country while they modelled in this country. If those girls in the video were used to lure men into clubs, that’s sadly a whole other profession.

Thats bullshit. Its that "if you wanna be successful just work hard" crap that keeps you trapped. Everyone has neg and pos qualities. But not everyone gets blatantly and consistently ignored. "Working" on your character may change how you interact with the world but it certainly does not do anything for how the world interacts with you. We've made some good gains as a global society in terms of how we treat people who are differ from ourselves . But somethings will never go away. Beauty standards have always been a thing but its super exacerbated in modern times because of how much we've managed to monetize beauty. And how we make a moral debate of every single thing. Like i hope its not like this forever. I hope people can go back to having smaller simpler lives when we can appreciate every individual in a homogeneous and kind way. But ya soz babes. Like the chances are soo fxuking minute. It often feels like Nobody out here tryna fxuk with anybody personality. Men or women. Its looks first. And honestly its not even about sex. Its about people not treating you as sub human because you dont confirm to beauty standards. But ya keep working yourself. Even tho there's nothing wrong with you.

As much as there is a pretty privilege, there is also an "ugly" curse. People who get picked on, judged, dismissed for their presence or opinion simply or mostly due to the fact of being "ugly" or physically unattractive. Often times when a woman gets approched by an unattractive man, all of a sudden he is labeled as "creepy" in her eyes, even when his approach, confidence and body language are similar to an attractive person. If this approach happens at work, it becomes sexual harrasment. If you are ugly and you smile at a very young kid or baby you become a suspected pedo lol Or you do not get a job for the fact of being unatractive as well, this can happen too, and the list goes on... And it's likewise sad that we keep on shaming people for having preferences and being honest about it. Why should I accept as an intimate partner someone who is -in most cases with fat and obese people- unhealthy by choice and lifestyle? Even as friends you know they will not be able to share many aspects of your life and hobbies and some of their habits will be incompatible. You ever gone hiking with fat/obese people? Pretty privilege intrigues me the most when people who are pretty AND interesting are seen as more interesting and if you're not as pretty you have to work twice as hard to capture the same amount of attention. Like an attractive person who paints is basically a winner and if they weren't attractive they'd need to paint waaaaaaaaaay better than they do to get the same amount of attention. EDIT: For those missing the larger point I'm making. Good looking people can generally can get away with less effort than others. I remember in elementary school teacher after teacher picked me to star in acting roles without even asking if I was better than other kids. It was automatic for them. They just saw me and went "perfect." The same goes for people we consider "cool". An actor like say Emilia Clarke is liked and gets accolades, media views and mentions just for smiling while another say Seal (the UK singer) most definitely wouldn't be able to charm most with just a smile. Mind you, humans also pick what food to eat based on how good it looks. Or what charities to donate too depending on how cute their cancer patients are. The instinct to be attracted by Google looking things, transcends art or people etc.

I don't care how much money you get, that is all you are, and this honey didn't play that. I know my self worth and it's certainly more than a chair.

Very true. Also, I think it’s worth mentioning, because it has been my experience that men like a variety of “types,” that working in a club or just being paid or compensated to be there and look cute is something that can typically happen for any young woman with a pretty face and a feminine body (small, medium, or big bodies).

You can't expect a person to want to stay with you if all you want to do is suffer alone. Good communication requires trust. Not communicating, not opening up, not sharing your struggles and pain with your partner, to me, is the same as saying "I don't trust you.". Good on him for taking the step to open up and trust his wife. I can only hope that she decided to trust him in the end.

I got so used to it after a while that once I would see a group of guys approach, I would just be like, "Well, it's my cue. G'night! Have a great time!" Then I'd go home and play my games. lol But I've had guys completely fall for me afterward once they get to know me, but they completely ruined it because they exposed just how shallow they are by chasing after all of my other friends because they are really gorgeous girls. I'm not going to hold that against them. The thing I hate is once these guys finally do talk to me they say shit like "Wow, you actually really cool." It's like they finally wake up and realize that you can connect with a woman on a different level than just a physical one. 5:22 Sister from another mister lol

My anxiety was through the roof all the time. I was scared to dress in certain ways that would attract attention, being an introvert and all.. I ain’t tryna talk to people! Now I’m much more extroverted and it took time for me to get used to the attention but I still notice how people are to me when I’m out in sweats and hair in a bun vs hair did and outfit on point. It used to really disgust me that people could be so cruel just because of how someone looks (prior me).. at least it’s humbled me to never judge someone by how they look or what they have. One of them bought my PS4 5 years ago that I still use to this day). The thing is, it's not just "prettiness", it's "radiance" to. Radiant, attractive beauty? Apply those concepts to personality and you will reap the "Similar" benefits. Being nice or decent is an ok, standard trait, not a good one. It's just that it's not common among many people that make people believe it is "good". Now what's "good"/gold standard is radiant personalities. Nice people may get nothing, maybe worse. A radiant personality that is nice gets it all.

Same thing for me. And I'm a dude. Junior school I wasn't pretty attractive and my teeth had issues. Got braces to sort my teeth out and puberty kicked in upon joining high school. The drastic change in the way girls were talking to me and the attention they sought from me was very pleasantly surprising yet made me want to know myself more. I had to convince myself that I'm not just what they see. Learnt a lot on how respect can be so superficial.

It depends honestly. I rather work hard than guys giving me money for how I look. I always get older men who *seem* like they have a lot money come up to me at work They usually ask how old l am (I have a young looking face even though I’m 22) They always say I work hard or too much and then ask me out on date. I’ve even had some get mad at me for turning them down. I feel like I’m not unattractive but I work for everything I have and it hasn’t been easy

I'm not traditionally "pretty" but I don't have a problem with pretty women enjoying their lives and sharing their experiences. Especially if they aren't being any type of rude. You shouldn't have to hide your joys or privileges just to cater to others' insecurities. You should be confident enough in yourself without needing to block out others who are doing better than you or feeling the need to take them down a notch.

Nobody should take issue with a pretty person just going about their lives and living their truth. To come after someone for being pretty is petty af. But at the same time we ABSOLUTELY should take issue with the non pretty recieving "lesser than" treatment and status society wide. This shit is insidious, socially acceptable and therefore invisible to most people and can start at a very young age. It can really impact a youth's self esteem and mess them up well into their adulthood. It's wild because it is so socially programmed into most people that they arent even aware theyre treating people differently based on appearance.
