Golf drills, tips, feels, and visualizations developed by Trevor Immelman and Chris Como to prevent coming "over the top" . It helps achieve the proper transition from the backswing to the downswing and shallows the arms for an inside approach to the golf ball. It is similar to the "tipping the golf club" move advocated by Mike Malaska. Some even refer to this dynamic as the "Malaska Move".

Very happy to see Trevor again. Followed him in his prime at the masters. He has one of the most beautiful swings I have ever seen. What a golfer.

On full shots...the Split Grip allows my right hand to control the clubface through impact...to either turn the club over and draw the ball or hold on and fade the ball. It's magical how the Split Grip allow you to work the ball. Here's another benefit everyone...use the Split Grip around the green. Oh my gosh...the Split Grip makes the Flop Shot soooo easy...just slide that right hand rapidly under the ball while maintaining that open face...and that ball shoots up like a rocket. And when chipping...at impact...add a little right hand release...to get the ball to run to the cup...which is the secret to all great chippers. When possible...always plan to have some run-out with the majority of your shots around the green...for the ball to always release quit a bit to the hole. Billy Casper taught this concept to Seve..and Seve taught this concept to Tiger. Watch Tiger hit sand shots...there is always a release...a run out with the ball. Seve's bunker shots always had release. I'm just saying...with the Split Grip...it's so much easier to create this release to the ball or a hold-block-fade action through impact. Play 2 weeks with the Split Grip. I really believe you'll lower your score...and have more fun shaping your shots like Bubba.

Remind me of Mac O'grady and Mike Malaska. Great lesson.

This is sooo Mike Malaska, I think Mike’s tipping the shaft drill is more effective.

Great drill. My arm swing is so much better. I chopped my ankle off but it’s all about learning.

This seems like it is promoting a cast early in the downswing but if you think about the forces you mention it makes sense. I’ve been trying to get my body more open at impact will this force you to instinctively react to the ax throw behind you and get your body turning so you don’t hit it 3 ‘ fat behind the ball? Can’t wait to experiment on range with this concept!

I had a coach try and teach me this, although he did not use an axe...lol. There are some that teach this, a straightening of the arms in the downswing. It was too difficult to master and I got never stuck with it. Worked on it for a few weeks but just felt like it was going to take several months if not a year to really get it down.

Craig Bynog That’s what I thought immediately.....but Malsaski’s pupils don’t swing as ‘crisply’ imo.

Trevor had one of the best swings in golf and then got Led-poisoning. Saw him working on casting the club and puc-releasing post Masters, never heard from him again.

This contradicts everything Ben Hogan taught about not consciously doing anything with your hands during the swing. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to feel versus real in the golf swing. You have to find your own way.

Travis Craig exactly, this feeling has helped for a year now as my hips used to control the swing and I wasn’t using my arms at all. I now feel like my hands and arms beat out my hips in the downswing, on camera everything looks perfectly in sequence so it’s all feel vs real

Ben did advocate a movement (feeling) from the top, a feeling of removing an arrow from a quiver - similar to the axe motion, but a lighter feeling.
