I've used them previously to prevent flotation of pipes. They provided us with a webinar at work a few weeks ago. Good system.

On a job atm and no more footings the whole area has been stabilised (machine rotarvates cement into the ground to depth of 1meter ) i couldn't believe it when i seen it. Be a good subject to cover.

They are proper wall ties. See them sometimes on gable ends of houses. I do miss Rodgers rants.

I can summon up a rant, in fact I will do one next week. Lots to rant about

@@SkillBuilder you could rant at people not spelling your name correctly.

Oooh, Bazalgette Court where the old pump house is very near our place, in fact we are buying a flat there for mum at the moment. Our wedding reception pub is right out the front on the river. Pop in next time!

Hi Mat Nice to hear from you. Maybe we could do something on that pump house.

the anchor point is in the ground which is pressing against the wall, so the anchor point will follow the movement of this ground, in my opinion

I used to know a bloke back in the late 1980's who had to have his left leg amputated, due to crush injuries, after a wall collapsed onto him as he was walking past. I believe the wall was at the side or rear of a Barclays Bank, in Chingford, Essex. It didn't phase him and he got on with his life, bought a light blue automatic Ford Cortina Mk4, that he could drive around in with no problems with one leg, but it just shows you how dangerous dodgy walls can be. There was a big outcry one day though, where one of the rough (And well known for violence) families in Chingford dragged him out of his car and gave him a good hiding, even though there was no way he could defend himself. That was so wrong. Shame on them!

It seems that he had some bad luck in his life. Wrong place, wrong time, and some very nasty people.

Very interesting. There are so many variations of these wall ties. Well if the wall is still standing from Victorian times then it's a pretty good system.

See the quiet often on road work where they shore up banks next to the road
@SkillBuilder4 сағат бұрын
I need to start looking out for them. I spend far too much time looking at the car in front.

See them on side of roads with steep embankments either side

Sure these have a use but ain't lack of drainage the issue Bit like patching a symptom rather than fix the issue
@SkillBuilder23 сағат бұрын
They have a drainage pipe built in. It is easy enough to put weep holes into any brick wall but these guys do far more ambitious projects.

That platypus just look like a modern version of a dead man anchor that you'd use on a retaining wall.

yes but I think the difference is that it can be installed after the event,
