Preventing developmental delays in babies after heart surgery

Babies who undergo cardiac surgery in the first year of life are more likely to have developmental challenges, ranging from delayed motor and language skills and feeding problems early in life to task organization challenges as they get older.
With each, early identification and intervention are key to prevent more serious, longer term issues.
C.S. Mott Children's Hospital offers a coordinated approach to preventing and managing neurodevelopmental delays in babies with congenital heart defects. Education is an important part of the journey, and this video was created to equip parents with information they need to support their baby during their heart journey.
