What people don’t realize is that most people in prison aren’t there for life. Eventually they will come out, and financially it makes more sense to invest in their rehabilitation than to wait for them to just return back to prison. This is powerful.

In Finland they have more open prisons, at least one of them is on an island where visitors don't usually know there are inmates among them. The entire Judicial process is very humane and considers the family unit as well as the prisoner. It has one of the lowest rates of recidivism in the world.....

They just used it the wrong way. There is no such thing as toxic masculinity. Masculinity is a tool with discipline that can be used for greatness.
@dyinginsidelol Жыл бұрын
toxic masculinity is a cultural currency used to trap men into dangerous and negative habits sold in the name of ‘masculinity’, being a ‘real man’, etc. it’s selling the good associations with masculinity and mortifying it by teaching it in a condescending way with values that aren’t really what the concept of masculinity is about at its quintessence
@elsnk.o2345 Жыл бұрын
Sure ‘masculinity’ can be a positive trait, but ‘toxic masculinity’ obviously is referring to when adhering to typically masculine values can become damaging. So perhaps it is a masculine thing to be stoic, and try to not be ruled by emotions. However if men try to suppress their emotions to a great extent, this has damaging consequences for themselves and everyone around them. Suppressing emotion is not possible, and will then often show up as anger, a lack of emotional intelligence/empathy, and generally a whole lot of other relationship and mental health problems. The point is that when masculinity can be expressed in both positive ways, and in toxic ways. It’s the same with everything in this world, religion can be positive but some people are extremists.

How about unlearning violence completely. I don't see a segment about Antifa members in prison talking about how they regret their actions.
@realmaletearsaspatriarchys13515 жыл бұрын
yes they do and they show regret!
@blattimus5 жыл бұрын
Unlearning violence works fine until the next war or home invasion. There have been numerous pacifist societies throughout history who focussed on science and the arts, and weaving dandelions into each other's hair instead of military arts. They were promptly invaded and destroyed by more sensible societies who understood that man-bun-sporting arts students who are unable to change a tire or shoot a rifle are a terrible defence against a violent attack. Definitely within stable societies, between criminal attacks and insurrections, violence isn't required for everyday life, and can be a big problem when mis-directed -- unless you're the police officer or soldier who must sometimes use violence to protect civilians from violence or defend their country from foreign invasion. But hundreds of thousands of years of evolution and struggles for survival left the remaining genetic lines violent and aggressive -- as well as nurturing, ambitious and enterprising -- because these traits allowed their communities to survive and prosper. In my opinion, there is no turning off traits which modern radicals consider 'toxic,' because of current social trends. And if the civil war which corporate media is encouraging with this divisive identity politics nonsense, or a foreign invasion occurs -- which over a long enough time span it definitely will -- we'll all be glad to have men and women able and willing to defend our society with violence.

@@michellemcmanus2729 it seems that you didn’t understand my comment at all. Maybe try re-reading it carefully without your ideological bias? Don't call it that if it makes you uncomfortable but it's basically when a child or young adult learns to suppres most emotions but anger is acceptable so all emotion gets pushed into anger or hate and they lash out because emotional pain gets released as anger or hate ....women do it too but they were allowed to cry or confide in friends so they have healthier ways to release emotion before it turns to anger and hate.... if we treated little boys the same as we treat little girls with regards to dealing with emotions then we would have a less violent, emotionally stronger society with deeper, healthier relationships.
