It seems like an artificial dilemma. Pope Pius XII already addressed the thought of deLubac in Humani Generis, promoting vonBalthasar's Razing of the Bastions... in which he offers some VERY complimentary opinions about Aquinas - the man and his theology, not the manuals. "Dry St. Thomas" who "does theology at his desk," etc. For that reason, it seems a bit disingenuous to go back, hopping over both vonB and PXII, in a resourcement appeal to St. Thomas on this.

✅ De Lubac AGREED with Aquinas. . . he disagreed with his interpreters / commentators.
