True but we don't know if "eternal treasure" is really why their planet is hidden/a myth like thing. Don't forget they specifically mention the Old Republic in this episode - and on the planet there is "The Great Work" which could mean anything really. Quite a few theories think the planet is actually a High Republic world that had the barrier put up to protect it/hide it for whatever reason. Regardless, I bet we find out pretty soon-ish what might be going on. Plus, Jude Law's character has a secret :D

Everyone keeps latching on to "Old Republic credits," but it looked to me like the republic insignia on them is the hexagonal Galactic Republic logo. I'm thinking it's "old Republic credits" with a lowercase "o." I'm thinking At Attin isolated themselves during the High Republic, or pre-Clone Wars, or just pre-Empire.
@coolbreeze1138

Ferns mom said they would be part of the "great work" which was what the high Republic called things like Starlight Beacon. I wonder if they got isolated by some entity (the supervisor) to protect them from something and it's been so long they just don't remember. I think it's weird. All of the teachers and security and everything are all droids too.
@davidbergfors6820

I agree with you, to me it is obvious it's the old republic as in just before the Empire. In the SW world, I don't think anyone really thinks about the "Old Republic" as we do, the time some 3000 years prior, that's just legends. to be hidden away from Palpatine, they would have had to hide a little earlier I believe, had Palpatine known about At-Attin there is no doubt in my mind that it wouldn't have been an imperial world. I'm thinking that maybe they "hid" even before the Naboo crisis, might be about 50 years or so. but was it intentional, or accidental?

Could it be that At-Attin has been lost to the galaxy for some 50 years? I have not been able to stop thinking about this since I saw the episodes this tuesday! that initial drop out of hyperspace wasn't normal, but it wasn't the hyperdrive going out either, because just a little later it works just fine when SM-33 takes them to the Pirate Cove. The people on the planet mention "The Great Work", and "great works" is a term that has been associated with the projects of a Supreme Chancellor during the High Republic era, so it could have been cut off from the galaxy for much longer than 50 years (though I guess you'd have to explain how they got R3X droids and movie-era Holiday Special holo entertainment).
@jameswg13

That the undersecretary referenced Great Works i think it's been more than 50 years. Think more along the lines of the Great Hyperspace Disaster and wars/fights with the Nihil. The barrier also reminds me of how the Nihil travelled

That exit from hyperspace, with the colored trails, usually indicates a ship being forced out of hyperspace, or the result of an accident causing an uncontrolled exit. In this case, it's likely a combination of the ship being damaged and whatever random jump it took ending prematurely (it probably wasn't trying to exit in the middle of deep space).

A Teek (from Ewoks: The Battle of Endor, and more-widely-seen in a cameo in the Star Tours boarding safety video), Fuzzball (from Captain EO), and a RX droid (like Captain R3X from the original Star Tours, now a DJ at Galaxy's Edge). All three could have been seen at Disney World at the same time in the pre-Disney ownership era of Star Wars. If you want to extend that to stories about a kid getting lost on a spaceship and having to find his way home with the help of a robot onboard the ship, the ship prop from Flight of the Navigator was also at Disney World within the former Backlot Tour, so that would make at least 4 things that were there back then . 😃

It's basically Treasure Planet, I love this. So to get back home they've got to go on a quest to find the Treasure Planet, probably like many before them (following clues, tomb raiding etc). I can't wait for this. The Republic the people are talking about on At Attin is probably what the rest of the Galaxy called the Old Republic now. It is weird that no one has ever tried to leave At Attin, who is keeping everyone there? why don't they know about all that has happened in the wider galaxy? This is a great adventure. The little Red flying creature in the cage is a call back to Captain Eo that featured Michael Jackson I believe.

The flying furry thing in a cage (that Jay was just doring) is an homage to an extinct Disney attraction/3D Movie "Cqptain EO" where there was a character just like it (and I think that is the same characteR) named Fuzzball

My crazy theory is that their home planet is blocked off from the rest of the galaxy (the barrier) and the citizens of the planet don't know there was a war and there's a New Republic. That's why the dad still has Old Republic credits. Is that way off or plausible??
@coolbreeze1138

Absolutely Plausible. I think they were isolated well before that even. I'm wondering if maybe in high Republic time they got cut off for some reason. The text that wim is reading The Jedi seem be exploring which made me think of when they were expanding into the outer rim in the high Republic books.

But why they are isolated and why they chose to become and stay isolated is the questions we need answers for, it seems that at attin holds some secret that outsiders aren't allowed to know about, like how native people aren't even allowed to leave the planet. I think at attin has some dark secret that made the native goverment chose to remain isolated and hidden from the rest of the galaxy even to the point where they have removed the star map to at attin. Some power is behind it all. But why....

This is such a fun show and the mystery is fantastic. I'm curious if Old Republic means actual "Old Republic" or the Republic pre-Empire. Also this really makes me want to rewatch Treasure Planet.

I think they were isolated pre-clone wars, whatever the time frame because all of their Jedi stuff still exists and the empire made sure to wipe out all information about the Jedi. They also seem to show the Jedi as working on the frontier so I'm wondering if they were isolated pre-starlight beacon.

So far this show is perfection. I hope it stays that way. Neel is totally Chunk and KB, a unit of data, is ...,well Data! I also love that while this show is geared towards kids it doesn't shy away from mature elements like gnarly violence and space hookers. Just like the good old 80s!

So a little theory time: that initial drop out of hyperspace wasn't normal, but it wasn't the hyperdrive going out either, because just a little later it works just fine when SM-33 takes them to the Pirate Cove. I had a thought about this earlier; could it be that this "barrier" over At-Attin initiated a delayed purge of the Navicomputers logs, forcing a stop? I have not been able to stop thinking about this since I saw the episodes this tuesday! I surmise that At-Attin has been lost to the galaxy for some 50 years. For an economically important world like this ("Eternal Treasure") to not have been hit during the Clone wars nor have been impacted by the some 25 years of Imperial rule, The Emperor can't have known about it at all, and since he came to office as Supreme chancellor at the time of the Naboo incident, some 15 years prior to the formation of the empire, At-Attin has to be "forgotten" or lost prior to this, it has to be at least 40 years since At-Attin had any contact with the Old Republic. Unless the leadership are aware of what is happening outside and has chosen to be hidden... the barrier forcing a navigation log wipe upon leaving would indicate this.

Not to get all nerdy and pedantic, but tertiary thrusters would be necessary to navigate in space, as the lack of gravity and air resistance means a ship wouldn't function the way it would on, say, Earth. There would be a lot more drift, and X-Wings wouldn't be able to fly as cool as they do without tertiary thrusters. I'll see myself out.

Welcome to Star Wars, Nick Frost. I now need SM-33 to meet Unkar Plutt for that reunion. As for the mystery of At Attin. Undersecretary Fara referred to the 'The Great Work', that's a High Republic thing. These guys have totally been cut off from the rest of the galaxy for the entirety of the Republic and Empire eras, haven't they?

Gotta give props to the kid actors in this, and the directors for getting such great performances out of them. I liked the ATLA live action show well enough, but I really felt that the kids (aang and katara especially) felt quite green and over-directed for a large portion of the show, especially early in the series. They didn’t come across as genuine at times, but this cast feels a lot more natural and less child-actor-y, like the directors let them be kids on their own and wasn’t really telling them to act in a particular way. Reactions and interactions between them feel much more natural, and I love it!
