tip: Don't invest too much on the abilities that give you powers like the mimics. If you do, the turrets that you thought were your new best friends, they will actually attack you. As their sensors identify you as one of the aliens in the game.

I've been playing Prey since it got released last night about 9 hours in now. One big thing that has helped me thus far is using the recycling grenades to get rid of heavy objects if you don have a high enough leverage.

Several tips I have to note that might help 1. Unlock combat focus nothing is better than making the world slow down and you get a damage boost depending on its level is great for amping damage for most if not all weapons. Prime example of this is using a the silenced pistol and instead of using a potential 15 bullet clip to just harm a phantom use combat focus then unload that clip and notice you probably have a few bullets left in fact. Also useful when you have to get by something fast even sneaking wise. 2. Also later in neuropsy is a great perk allows you to harvest typhon parts beyond the first couple pieces granting better recycle amounts and more crafting of advanced plans. 3. While hacking is great I can admit do not trouble yourself to much with it at first get to rank 2 and that should do pretty good for a long while 4. Weapon kit out the incapacitation rate and range on the GLOO cannon, nailing an enemy from the other end of a long hallway definitely makes it easier to run up and hit once with a nice tap with our trusty wrench apply a shot of GLOO to make sure they stay nice and still and repeat. (Warning strong wrench attacks break off all GLOO use strong on last strike or else risk having phantom pain in a few short seconds) 5. Amp up the damage and reduce the stamina drain on your wrench attacks knocking phantoms or even random operators can be a mighty fun laugh when you have a deadly creature laying on the ground allowing you time to get some GLOO on them or even wail their health away with your destructive swing. Also just a cautionary note do not be afraid to switch chipsets out sometimes they are life and death difference. Example: wow this fire resistance chip sure does not help against this electricity flinging jerk oh wait I have a chip that helps with that. my own dunder head moment reminded me why I was struggling so much. Hope these tips help been playing since it came out yesterday I do not want people to suffer like many of us did in the first dead space game.

Best tips I can give you: 1) Pistol with P-Crit++ is 10x better than a shotgun. Pistol > Shotgun. 2) Don't waste your points upgrading your inventory space. Carry a briefcase or some other container as a portable inventory. 3) Use ZERO POINT PSI 19-03WEOS 4) Use PSYCHOLITIC CONVERTER =/~ (Make sure to stock up on medkits.) 5) Recycle everything. 6) Use the GLOO cannon as much as possible. It is extremely useful in countless situations. 7) Do NOT worry about consequences of Alien Powers. The rewards outweigh the risks. 8) Explore. Exploring is really important in prey, not only will you find hidden locations and lore, there are weapons and other items hidden in places the average player wouldn't search.

As a word of advice to anyone who is about to get I to this game...invest neuronods into the medic 1 and 2 perks asap! As it will allow you to get more materials from mimics to make plenty of neuromods early on, also it boosts medkit recovery so that's always nice as well. Also Gloo Cannon is your best friend early on and can be used to get to many otherwise inaccessible areas early on to grab plenty of goodies. Also Mimics will almost always mimic an item in the environment next to them so if you see two of the same item in extremely close proximity or one's knocked over or in a weird position that looks out of place...chances are it's a mimic.

Right when you break out of the Simulated room, inside the room with the safe you can climb the machine on the left side and it'll give you the stun gun, mods, and a health pack

Use recycler grenades to unblock paths to loot if you're not using the strength/leverage mods. Also, upgrade your gloo cannons length of effectiveness so that you can throw explosive cylinders at stuck Typhons!

Be careful when backtracking in this game. Going back to earlier areas puts in more recently discovered enemies. More than just the elemental variations of phantoms even. The elemental variations are no joke.

In the ballistics lab, open the recycler grenade chamber and mill the mimics. Then, grab every single thing you can pick up in the room and stuff it into the chamber. Close the chamber and set it off, collecting a decent amount of materials in the process.

Grab the Necropsy skill as fast as possible and grab the neuromod fabrication plan from the Neuromod Division. Loot every enemy you kill in the game (they only respawn at certain points in the story, so they're finite) and break their organs down to their raw materials. The alien enemy organs give you a resource called 'exotic materials'. You can use this to make your own neuromods. This way you'll be producing upgrade points for every enemy you kill, and you'll be a lot more prepared for the stronger enemies when they introduce themselves.

I just started playing this game a few days ago bc I got COVID and needed something to do while locked in my house, and actually I found a stun gun before the gloo gun. Before where you tell us we can get one. The room with a dry erase board and a safe, first safe you encounter, it's a small room. If you climb up the computers in that room, there's a briefcase on top with a stun gun inside of it

You can actually get the disrupter pistol a lot earlier. When you first get out of your apartment, you come across the first safe. Right across the room from the first safe there are some electronic cabinets - jump on top of those and there should be a briefcase with a note.

I've got a tipperino, in the ballistics lab, gather all the movable objects you can infront of that sphere, make sure you've got em piled nice and high, then open the door (if done right the mimics won't be able to get out), then use the recycle nade that's already loaded into the machine to get some sweet sweet mats.

If you get Leverage III, you can pick up large objects and protect yourself from Phantom attacks, and then throw the object at the Phantom causing a lot of damage. Get Kinetic Blast, it works well against Phantoms, you can finish them off by shooting them at point blank range with a shotgun. Fabricated Nullwave Transmitters, they are particularly useful against Telepaths, Technopaths and Weavers, rendering them temporarily unable to attack you and highly vulnerable from your attacks. Use your psycho scope when a Poltergeist is pestering you, it will locate it for you. The shotgun is probably the best weapon to use against them. You can get inside some places using Mimic, by turning yourself into a small object and moving throw a small space, often on a counter.

1) You should almost never get leverage III, it is a waste of NM. 2) Shotgun is absolutely terrible in comparison to the pistol. You are better off using the wrench in close range encounters.

3:00 Upgrade shotgun with the increas security weapon neuromod can oneshot every regular Phantom Typhon. With that the best tactic is actually to Rambo into the enemy; even the stronger Phantoms (the electricity and fire one) are easy to kill with only minimal life loss. And one tip: always keep your suit at atleast 80-90%, you will find TONS of suit repair kits in the game, so you have no problem doing so.

Tip: the developers made it o where if you're paying attention to small things you're less likely to get ambushed. Example: the trash can falling down the stairs when you reach Morgan's office for the first time. You've already come in contact with mimics so you know there is one more trashcan here than there should be

To be honest, the tip number 1 is not that good, you can find the disruptor gun without wasting Goo ammo in earlier game, we have one on the room where you watch your video (the one with a safe, whiteboard and a weird cirurgical chair). The gun is located above a mainframe computer, you can jump there without problem.

@gameranx I have a pretty helpful tip not many have caught yet. Those red fire alarm bells typically hide a safe behind them I can't confirm all do but I've found 3 so far that have. Found this through randomly goofing around, I use the wrench and smack the center of the bell and bam free easy loot I won't spoil what you get but it's pretty nice so hopefully it helps some of you out.

TIP: you can get the disruptor gun in the simulation area on top of some tall objects! never ever forget to climb objects out of sight, like speakers and such. they have both good loot AND most likely an easter egg.

Not ordered by rank just somethings I've found lol. 1) Low on health find 2 water fountains next to each other and very slowly regain your health takes a good bit but can be worth it if your patient 2) In the main lobby after you've unlocked the trauma center and cleared it out create a medical bot and you never have to worry about health again but you do need to keep running there to get free full health 3) Still low on inventory space holding onto a bunch of junk items store them inside a garbage bin and come back for them later once your gonna recycle them or just store them inside a recycle machine 4)Using too much Goo gun ammo instead of holding down the trigger button shoot one at a time to save some ammo 5)Trouble dealing with phantoms if you see an explosive canister near you toss it at them and if you toss it just right you will reduce there health by 85-90% like I said it has to be thrown right in front of them so they can take the full explosion damage and the finish them off with a strong hammer attack or 2 The little I learned from the demo and playing carefully

There are also a few secrets people often pass I noticed. In the same area with the electric gun is a secret and you can obtain a lot of spare stuff before progressing. I've scoured entire areas and got soooo much stuff... my pistol is almost max and it's OP with the upgrades.... I not too far I would say, about 7hours in and done my first outside space thing and I only just got my first alien alien power and already I've almost maxed the skills before the alien skills to work on.... just from secret areas and he gloo gun... can get to places you are not supposed too I presume because I've climbed and dropped down to places out of reach and found tons

To the huntress crossbow you can shoot like buttons to use them from a distance. For example when you are in the Talos 1 lobby theres a security room on the ground floor to the left and you can open it by shooting against the button

Tip use the crossbow thing to shot locked doors buttons from angles. You can also shoot computer screens to open doors if you can get a angle thought a broken window or hole.

I'm not sure if it has been noted, but the nerf darts can also activate computer screens and door buttons. This lets you get through some locked doors because you can see their open buttons through windows.

You can also get a disrupter pistol even earlier in the game. Right after you break out of your room through the fake balcony (after the alien outbreak) go into the room where there's that funky looking chair they test you on and climb on the left monitor/block. On top of it you will find a note saying something along the words of - I can't believe you found this and there is a suitcase there as well with the weapon and some other goodies

You can get the Disruptor Stun Gun in the Simulation Labs, once you escape the sim, in the little Simulation Debriefing Room with the funky chair, there is a suitcase on top of the big computer thing on the left. It has a note and some goodies in it along with the Disruptor Stun Gun.

You can get aschematic and a stun gun earlier by climbing on top of those two crates on the left hand side of the room with the wiped off safe code and wierd chair. I believe it's Marco Simmons office, but many people I've noticed don't get the stunner early because they think they can't climb up there but you can.

6:40 Talk about wasting amo. You can climb the wall with like 3 shots of the goo gun. It's not even necessary because you can get a shock gun as soon as you get out of the simulation after 10 minutes of playing. Its just laying around in the first area near the safe ontop of a crate

While savong resources and ammo is good, save neuromods, as well. Also, there is a typhon that is really tough, and can almost one shot you early on, after you get the psychoscope. Do not take any of the abilities that you get from typhons' early on. This will bring that one typhon to you much sooner. Spend the neuromods on suit, weapons, etc., and even health stuff. You will need it. Also, unless you find a certain scope chip, you should lug, always, alcohol around.

you can also drink from water fountains for 1hp at a time if you find a couple side by side you can go back and forth and fill up your hp in a few mins.

U can even use 'em to restore your psi power, like coffee, tea , even the occasional energy drink & yes there's energy drinks called popstar. All bit by bit.

theres actually a disruptor thing before the one they mentioned. when you first get out of the apartment, find the room off to the side with the safe and the creepy chair. Climb ontop of the tall shelf thing and theres a note, a stun gun and some resources.
