What pissed me off about the movie was the many honor codes that where broken by the Predator. Like killing the Natives when they didn't pose a threat to the Predator bcuz they didn't know of him to be a threat to them. Or how the Predator cloaked in the middle of the fight with Naru's brother. Clearly he broke the code and so many.

I'm not saying theses movies aren't flawed nor have room for improvement, and that they don't have point, but these are still the best movies. @@rezsurfer2808 Predator 2 was a campy, Lethal Weapon meets the Predator. In fact with Danny Glover and Gary Busey, it had part of the cast from Lethal Weapon. It also had terrible fight scenes, a terrible plot, worn out stereotypes of Latinos and Jamaicans... terrible character development... we never even know if the Glover character had a family... we know nothing about him. The movie was a money grab. Easily Predator then Prey... and the rest can fight it out for a distant 3rd.

People making comparisons to the original Predator are completely missing the point. Arnold's character was the best of those soldiers by a mile and in the end he won by literally abandoning all of his equipment and guns.... because none of it was ever going to help because the Predator is far more advanced with weaponry. He won by resorting to jungle warfare with primitive fighting techniques. The girl in Prey was much more prepared for the Predator when it came to this type of warfare because their entire tribe relies on hunting...that's what the point of the fight was. A primitive hunter vs hunter story. Prey was a very good Predator movie. It's the best in the series aside from the original which will never be topped IMO.

The Predator targeting system is NOT heat-based, each one of the darts goes directly to one of the red targeting lasers. They show this in Prey. Good Lord, pay attention if you're going to do these review videos. Naru wasn't seen as a threat because every time the Predator is aware of her, she is unarmed and in a vulnerable position-it had nothing to do with her being female.

Those laser guided bolts are much more advanced than plasma cannon form P1/P2. The same for wound welder. All 3 dots are independent and predator can track and attack three targets almost immediately. Plasma cannot do that. They say, predator in prey is basic and not advanced but they are clearly wrong.

It was extremely funny that the Predator forgot how his own weapons targeting system works. That makes sense. And yeah, he may not have seen her as a threat original, but once she chopped off one of his arms, that shit was over. He then had his hand around her neck while she was flat on her back, that should have and would have been game over. How did she just butt scoot out of that dilema? By that time I was pretty much already checked out on what she was capable of doing against this Predator. That was just icing on the cake. And of course, we can't have a female hero that doesn't jump on her attacker's neck and wrap her legs around him at least once. If you're a female fighter apparently all you need to do is jump on a guys neck and it's game over.

I thought the same thing. None of the creatures were beat by brute strength alone. They used a combination of traps and the Predators own weapons that were designed to slice through most anything. By the way the videos explanation of dart being laser guided heat tracing is dead wrong. I know she had taken flower that lowered her body temperature but the Predator weapons are laser guided which is not the same as heat guided. Laser guided dart doesn't care what temperature is it just goes to where laser is pointing

Dutch was over a foot shorter than the original predator and outweighed by nearly two hundred pounds. And Dutch's weapons didn't help, you're not making a lot of sense. And Danny Glover's character won by stabbing the Predator in the gut with his own weapon; that's right, the Predator just walked right up to Glover and let him stab him in the gut. Essentially Glover won because the Predator let him by being careless. _Deus ex machina_ . Dude, your logic is crosseyed. The entire Predator franchise relies on intellect and cunning to beat the predator not strength or size. And we know from Predator canon that whenever the Predator feels threatened, it relies on its weaponry to save him. Are you new to the party? Watch the other Predators then come back and try making sense.

The Director said that he test screened parts with family/friends and got told, "more doggo", and he's like, "we're using all we can", because Coco (doggo) was so high strung on set, they had to do multiple attempts to get usable footage.

Some thoughts: This isn’t a redesign. Not only is it 200-300 years in the past, but it’s a different species of Yautja. As much as I like that Naru was victorious, along with the ways she discovered various strengths and weaknesses of the Predator, I was also upset to see how nerfed the Predator was in the final scene. I also wish the kill shot was quicker and more surprising. Predators are fast, and he had plenty of time to dodge the arrow. The CGI was noticeable at times, but it never bothered me. It’s a Hulu film with a smaller budget…sometimes you just have to accept that. “If it bleeds, we can kill it” was fit into the dialogue well. I didn’t feel it was forced at all (and not nearly as forced as suggesting a Comanche would ever say “ain’t” haha). I disagree with the notion that the Predator treated Naru differently because she’s female. Raphael being killed is a bad example, imo. Predator didn’t think he was alive, and when he yelled out in pain, it was so quick and loud that it startled the Predator and may have been mistaken as a threatening yell. It makes sense that he killed Raphael.

i have to disagree because in ALIEN Vs. PREDATOR the Pyramid Scene (thousands of years ago), they already wear the "modern" Combat armor and have the Plasmacaster (shoulder weapon). Hah instead of using billy's 1987 line "somethings coming for us and it aint no man", they opted for a more subtle line that most people wouldnt pick up on. They opted for "I saw it". Its the first line Mac says after the shock of seeing the predator. Its also one of the first lines Naru says when the comanche hunting party catches up with her. I always marveled at how well/realistic Bill Duke portrayed Mac when he first sees the predator in the 1987 film. Mac is in utter shock and fear. He cant explain what he saw with anymore words other than "I saw it". So that line stuck with me. And i definately noticed when Naru says it in Prey. Might be a stretch, but i definately think its a recall to 1987.

I think this Predator was killed because he never thought of Naru as a threat. She was always running away, and when she did attack him, it wasn't very effective. When she stole his helmet, he was probably going to take it back, and let her leave so he could follow her back to the village. The Predator kills other predators, until he becomes the Alpha Predator.

Naru did not kill the predator by herself, those saying that missed: • The wolf biting Feral, the wound will stay with it a few weeks at best. Even if it was patched up. • The fight with the bear. • Feral fighting the men of her village and the damage they caused. • The damage done from the French fur trader's. • Taabe did a fair amount of damage before he was killed. • By the time Naru was fighting Feral 1 on 1, he was already weakened. She was familiar with the environment of where they were. Prep time is always an advantage. Could she have taken on Feral and survived a few days before? Probably not. But she is smart, quick and a good fighter. She took care of the fur trader's pretty quickly. She was able to study Feral in many confrontations. So like Dutch, she had an understanding of her enemy, better than the rest did. Also, Feral may have been young and fairly inexperienced. A Yautja's greatest weapons is it's stealth. Once that is taken away, they all die.

Wasnt only that it was the fact it took a bunch of marines in first movie with fully automatic weapons and they couldnt shoot the predator only to take down half a jungle but this predator must have been rubbish at his job as this one was taking shots left right and centre lmao off farmers with single shot rifles, dont get me wrong the action scenes were entertaining but spiderman would of put up a better fight and the scene were predator gos toe to toe with them all on the ground defeats the name " PREDATOR" normally stalks there prey and takes one one at a time.

The thing is people need to understand that there are different types of predators. The one in prey was a Youngblood, ones that need more kills to upgrade there weaponry. Ones that need to up there ranks to earn respect from there elders. Another thing, as he states, is that the Youngblood didn't see naru as a threat not because she was a woman, but because he has been watching her and her brother. Then became interested in her brother because he seemed more worthy of an opponent. Then realised he messed up going against naru.

Exactly and that’s why it makes the plot of Prey even more trash 😂 There is so much plot armor in his movie it’s basically hilarious. She left the movie basically unscathed. 1. A friggin bear trap clamped on her ankle and hours later she can still jump run and climb trees. No limp 2. A bear can run 35mph it would run down Naru in about 4 seconds. the actual behavior of a bear leaving it’s fresh kill to go after naru is completely unrealistic for bears 3. The predator’s thermal imaging can still see a creatures body even after they have consumed the flower medicine. Then when naru consumes it she’s completely invisible 😂 4. The predator can KO a friggin bear weighting about 1200lb and pick it up. Predator choked slammed naru in the ground and she pulled a ninja roll right after like Goku and took no damage 😂 5. Naru was frigging strong enough to block and parry the predator’s shield blade to cut off its own arm. She blocked the shield blade first with the predators own spear and then pushed the blade away (I watched that in slow mow and wow naru is stronger than Arnold) 6. She was able to pull the predator and pin it to the swamp with her rope axe that was wonderfully conveniently brought by the dog 😂 she’s goku strong 7. When naru herself got tramped earlier in the quick swamp mud the area was way more larger than the one the predator fell into meaning it got way smaller only able to fit the predator and place him in the exact spot for the harpoon to deliver the kill shot. 8. Predator knows that when he shoots the harpoon it will track and fire where the laser is pointings but he doesn’t turn it off in the final moments and does note even a attempt to move his head even when he’s watching the harpoon circle around for a few seconds to kill him. Naru got a flawless victory of the predator, something no one other than an Alien Xenomorph was able to do

It's clear that people like you think this is some frontier of your weird american culture wars, but in truth this (and many other modern films) misses so much of what made the classic movies good that while it may seem similar on paper, those with a critical eye for movies; direction, dialogue, writing etc. see glaring problems that undermine the whole thing. This problem is not unique to prey, but prey suffers heavily from it. The irony is that you can recognise that the fans love movies with female protagonists, but you are unable to connect the dots as to why that isn't the case here.

For me, Prey was on the same level as the original Predator and Predators. I did not mind that the CGI was not as good as some blockbuster movies. They have to work with the budget that they have. The redesign of the Predator was fitting since it takes place centuries before the other films. I do not understand why so many people complain about the girl beating the Predator. The Predator was inexperienced and injured. He was on the girl's home turf. He underestimated her, and she outsmarted him.

What pissed me off the most about the movie was Raphael's pistol. Raphael was a ship captain during a mutiny. While fighting his crew solo and being observed by a predator, it helps Raphael put down his crew before he was fatally wounded. He gave the predator his pistol before he died saying "take it". That story alone would've been badass enough to make a movie. And they fucked it all up in prey. That was really the only issue, everything else on its own made for a good predator movie.

The official explanation is that the director didn't want to be bothered respecting established Predator canon. Here's another problem with its tech: When it enters the camp near the end of the movie, its HUD picks out and labels all the dead bodies, as well as the translator, whose body temperature had been lowered by the herbs that Naru gave him. Why could Predator tech from 300+ years ago see and identify cold bodies, but not the predator tech 300 years later? And since it CAN identify cold bodies, shouldn't it have seen Naru standing there, and wondered why a supposedly dead body was standing upright? Oops.

I also don't mind the appearance change of the Feral Predator, I think it's quite well established by now there are different sub-species of Predators. However, I do wish the Feral - in fact most versions of Predator after the 1st movie, would retain a subtle design which seem to have been de-emphasized/ignored/missed. For the OG predator, the tips of the top 2 mandibles overlaps on the bottom 2 at an angle, and they tap on the bottom 2 to create tapping/clicking sound which seems to be part of the Yautja's language (or at least a way of communication). The top & bottom mandibles of the Feral simply lay out vertical/parallel to each other, which do not suggest any tapping/clicking... maybe that's why they are called "feral" since they don't communicate that well - in the eyes of the other Predators. 🤪

I forgive basically all of these issues and even brush most of them off as people being mad a female lead killed the predator. The one that bothers me the most is how the predator kinda just didn't notice that Naru stole it's mask, then forgot that theres a pin point perfect targeting system in the mask that activates when the harpoon gun is drawn and didn't think the harpoons would have been drawn off course to some random location when the weapon fire, and then simply turned off the tracking feature before going after Naru and using the harpoon gun. The other is how Naru was able to piece together that the orange pedals (already forgot the name of them) is what stopped the predator from seeing the man playing dead, and not, you know, because he was playing dead. It was a pure shot in the dark based on incomplete information to zero in on a concept (thermal vision) that is completely foreign to anyone in her time period. She's smart, but not THAT smart.

You are able to smile and nod that it makes sense because you saw what the predator saw, but she didn't benefit from that viewpoint. Now if she and other people all took the pedals for some other reason and the predator clearly ignored them but slaughtered others, then she could have drawn that conclusion, but not the way it was written.

I was initially excited when I saw the trailer. When I found out it was already released on Hulu, I lost most of the excitement. I assumed it was going to be another movie that lacked a lot and was rushed. I was actually very surprised with the movie, in a good way. Yeah the CGI was a little off with the animals, but not enough that ruined it for me. I actually liked the plot. A lot of newer movies create huge loop holes, basically a lack of attention to detail. This one, not so much. It was a very pleasant movie to watch. I actually watched it again a few days later because it was entertaining. I liked how they used the new warrior against the predator. They did not make it unrealistic, where she'd over power the predator or something dumb like that. She used what she had and it worked for me.

What’s funny is Naru was never questioned as a warrior by her tribesmen... As there were women of many tribes, including Comanche, who were skilled warriors because they had to protect the homestead from warring tribes when their men were out hunting. She was questioned as a hunter, because most likely due to strict role enforcement, she probably wasn’t given “traditional” hunter training. She appears to have taught herself to throw a tomahawk. Also, ALL of the Comanche are depicted as multi skilled, as life in the harsh elements would demand. Those Comanche, from the hunting party to tabe, to Naru were depicted as much better fighters than the much more technologically advanced fur trappers. Her whooping their asses makes perfect sense, as she comes from a whole warrior culture with fighting styles and traditions that make them akin to a martial art. Those traders had likely never met a woman of her strength and skill. As for the feral predator, she outsmarted him after he had been injured and nearly killed by her brother. As well as her hunting party. They did just about as much damage as a predator as the fur trappers. She weakened the lion for Tabe, and he weakened the predator for her. And gave his life to give her the time to come up with a plan to kill it, because he knew, not thought, knew she would figure out a way to do so.

Well, I liked it. Seeing how this is the first time Predator visited earth right. Didn't know anything about humans? Not sure why it's getting hate. I think people just need to complain. I was impressed by how the Comanches were portrayed, they were a peaceful but fierce people. The fights with them and the predator was well done. They really kicked his ass, as much as they could, seeing how they were fighting something they had never seen. They stabbed, slashed, etc. very bravely. It was a team effort and Naru took advantage of that. Have we gotten so lazy that we must have our entertainment served up on silver platters?

Audiences don't like to watch David vs Goliath when Goliath wins... it's kind of to be expected when the opponents has next generation weapons against spears and arrows. Nope, no fun there.. But maybe an ending where the Predator loses both arms and is trying to get away from her, ends up back at the mothership, where he's immediately killed by his Yautja clan for being a coward. And, people forget - she certainly didn't kill this Predator alone. Her brother, other tribe members and even the trappers all got some good damage in. Her brother especially did some serious damage in Act III. Prey is a massive improvement over all of the sequels and it now occupies 2nd place for me in the Predator only films.

I’ve been a fan of the original “Predator” movie since it was in theaters. There wasn’t any sequels of it that even came close to being as good as the original until “Prey.” The most important thing is that the Comanche woman was much smarter than the alien. Of course, the movie had some issues that were hard to ignore but it’s still an awesome movie. I do think it would have been better if the female lead had been shown as an exceptional hunter from the beginning of the story. It was hard to figure out how she could transition so quickly without showing any potential to begin with. Maybe if it had been Rhonda Rousey or someone we think of as a strong capable warrior. It’s irritating when people cast actors based on their looks alone without accounting for how realistic they will appear as the character they will portray.

They’re ignoring that each initial time the Feral Predator cornered Naru, she was either bound or caught in a trap… but he fully intended to kill her until that variable. Otherwise why kill f.e . the commanche man in an open fight, or later the french in an open fight. So humans have to be a threat for him. But for direct examples: In the Scene where the predator sprints after Naru and one man in the open field, he catches up with the man and kills him, then he sprints after Naru. Why does he do it? Because he certainly wants to kill her. Then he stops because she is in a trapand makes the questionable decision not to attack the french despite he was and is later willing to go in an open fight. Other example is as he attacks the one legged french on the ground who is certainly not a thread.

@@Budake1988 The Predator is smart enough not to generalize about a species. It judges each situation separately. It stalks, observes and kills. It tracked Naru. When it caught up to her, the bear was the greater threat. It killed the bear. When the search party found her, the Yautja was watching. Their bullying and weapons made them the greater threat. So he killed all of them. When Naru picked up her axe, she became a threat. He was fully intent on killing her, until she walked into that trap. It wasn't HIS trap. Killing her then wouldn't have counted. He was more interested in the trap than her. When the Frenchmen showed up, the Yautja went back into observation mode. When they used Naru and Taabe as bait, that made the Frenchmen the greater threat. So he wiped them out. It killed Raphael because of a reflexive response. Fight or flight. The Predator was smarter than you give it credit. It was also consistent through the entire movie.

I gave Prey a 6/10 rating on IMDB. It wasn't terrible but there were enough terrible moments to knock it down from a 7 or 8. The most immersion breaking thing for me was Naru going full John Wick/Arya Stark for no apparent reason. She was yet another Mary Sue with impervious plot armour. Not a patch on the original but still worth a watch. Oh, and what the fook was up with the French Orcs/Cavemen? So cartoonish. Plus the inept Predator, the stupid body temperature reducing flower & the fact Naru got half her tribe slaughtered for her selfish wish to prove she was a great hunter. 6 is a generous score!

I agree that the animals were a major negative in the film. They looked fake and the rabbits were CGI domesticated rabbits like why not make a terrible wild rabbit 😂

Naru was basically hunting rabbits, deer and bear herself, not sure how the Predator didn't regard her as the top in the food chain that deserves to be killed like the wolf and snake it hunted down. The entire story premise is built upon the need for the glorification of a woman succeeding in a man's role, that is hunting, being a warrior and killing the Predator, and not cook, because that little girl looking up to her in admiration is very telling of the woke message that every girl should follow her path. In Predator 1, Dutch retreated in exhaustion, bruised and beaten up, traumatized by the Predator encounter that killed all his comrades. In Prey 2022, she returned to her tribe UNSCATHED, happy and proud for achieving what a man couldn't, that is killing a Predator, smiling in everyone's face after being crowned as tribe chief like "LOOK, I'm better than a man!".
