I have watched a plethora of the Microeconomic main topic videos and I just want to say, "Thank you". It has truly helped myself and others in the class I am taking in college. You are a better teacher than the one I am paying for.

This is sort of why Toyota launched the Lexus brand in the 90's. Add a few more bells and whistles to the same car and tap into substantially greater revenue for a not so substantially different product..

This is second degree price discrimination, not first. Under second-degree price discrimination, your are aware of different customer characteristics, but you cannot observe them directly. So you create two different products and let the customers sort themselves.

can u do microeconomic analysis that uses calculus to optimize utility given certain budget constraints and utility functions?

funny how some don't see the bad ethic there, remind me of that ads showing a 'star' accountant looking to get a new idea (by buying an ibm product) after saving million to the company by removing a single pickles from every jar (actually stealing their customer of the expected quantity)

How would it factor in, ( or be called), if you used the same basic widget, with a few add-ons, to be sold as a completely new product? Example; a large wooden plaque, normaly used as a sign blank, could be sold as a table if you add 3 or 4 legs.

In 1st-degree price discrimination, can monopolists identify separate market segments as in 3rd degree? or do they use an aggregate demand function?

why does the marginal cost go up when the ATC decreases(in the beginning)? Sorry if my question is dumb
@lorien999310 ай бұрын
Well the idea is that the ATC will naturally decrease in the beginning because the large « fixed costs » will be spread out over multiple units. On the other hand, the marginal cost will increase because it will cost gradually more to produce each extra unit (you’ll ned to hire more workers etc). Should be noted that the reason that the ATC starts by decreasing at the lower quantities and the MC doesn’t is because the ATC takes into account the fixed costs for starting up the company whereas the marginal cost doesnt
