I agree the renderings looked better. Better looking wheels, front fender and exhaust. Keep up the good work brother!
@eastcoastish2 жыл бұрын
I think the US version may have a fender more like the render (and more like the CT70 we know in the US) - the Dax in Europe and Japan had those helmet looking fenders so the ST125 may just be trying to emulate that with the Grom fender + extension in the back.

Beautiful paint job eastcoastish! I had a 1971 CT70H in Candy Topaz Orange, bought it new back in 1971, man do I regret ever selling it. I am interested in getting the Honda ST125 Dax (CT125H is what I would call it) also if it is available in the US market, but I am on the fence if it does not come with, or if it cannot be modified to put the 5-speed Monkey gearbox in it. There is an after market fold down handle bar kit that is out there for the Monkey and it should work on the Dax from what I understand, and I would want that as well. If there is no way to put a 5-speed gearbox in it, then I am leaning towards the Monkey, the 5-speed is a deal breaker for me, even as much as I love and have fond memories of the old CT70H.

This is so awesome. Mini-Trail 125? I'm really pumped about this!

Maybe Honda will badge the US version of the Dax as a “Trail 125”.

This is extremely exciting news from Honda. Its a sign that mini motos are not a fad and are here to stay.
@eastcoastish2 жыл бұрын
Especially with gasoline prices being pretty high. Although my guess is these will be like the '22 Grom where people are still having trouble finding them, and dealers will tack on $1k markup. Honda has been killing it with the minimoto lineup though.
@nickmiller14122 жыл бұрын
@@eastcoastish That potential mark up and scarcity separates the men from the boys lol Give all the 2022+ minis a couple more years on the market and production should catch up/ramp up. Honda is cashing in and im glad to do my part and order brand new.

They both look great! Who do you use for powder coating.? That’s fairly cheap, and can’t see a noticeable difference in the 2 bikes. I ended up buying the silver tag I told you about. Looking forward to your videos for guidance on the restore.

When I was in FL, I would use Precision Powder in Melbourne, now that I'm here in SoCal, I've used Bradford Powder in Chula Vista for a couple of frames and he does a great job although a bit more expensive than my FL guy (everything's more expensive in CA). The main downside to the powder is that you can't coat your plastic headlight bucket at the same time so you need to run a chrome one (or paint one to match as close as possible, I've never been able to get it perfect). Congrats on the purchase though, let me know if I can send you those frame decals.

Going to be really hard to resist not buying the new CT70 / ST125 when they come out. Looking like a year or two away to save up.

Based on the European announcement and then the US release date of the Grom, I'm hoping for Winter '22 or early '23.

@@eastcoastish that's coming up pretty quick. Would be cool to see a side by side video of the newer style with one of your restored CT70s. I just picked up a 1970 Opel GT that needs a few things so that might use up my extra cash.

I spoke with a gentleman that brought a couple Honda Dax's back from Japan. He had to disassemble them completely and ship them in separate containers, then put them all back together once he got it back here. I was interested in buying one of them. He told me that he will sell them, but they are NOT able to be licensed here in the USA, and that they will NEVER be allowed to be sold as a vehicle that can be licensed, insured, etc. So I decided against the purchase. I wouldn't want to buy it just to sit and look at it!!! That's awful that Honda won't bring that bike over here.

Getting them Aug/Sept in the UK around £4k
@eastcoastish2 жыл бұрын
So about the same price as the Monkey then. For the Grom, I think they announced it in Europe in Fall '20 and it became available in the Spring of '21, in the US they announced it in the Spring '21 and it was available in the Summer '21 so based on that, maybe US get's the announcement in Fall '22 and we get it Winter '22/Spring '23? Man that sounds far away...
