I have seen a couple post on here with people struggling with limited budgets and I just wanted to add a couple of suggestions: Today for around $20.00 maybe a little less I just put on a big pot of Vegetable soup with ground turkey. I bought 2 pounds of turkey yesterday at Aldi's $6.99. Frozen vegetables 12 ounce were 96 cents each X 3 ( 2 green beans, 1 frozen broccoli. 1 onion I bought a bag for less than $3 but you can buy just one onion. I had home canned corn from 2 years ago and home canned potatoes also 2 years ago that I added. I had frozen zuchinni from last year that I added to the pot. This makes about 10 quarts of Vegetable soup. Add a grill cheese sandwich or crackers. I know it's 10 quarts because I am using one of my pressure canners as a stove top pot today. You could also add some store bought kidney beans or any kind of bean. I am a widow now so this is enough soup to last me for a month I freeze in single serving trays.. this batch I am sharing with some of my neighbor kids but I will still end up with enough to have this at least twice a week for a month. Oh I forgot I added 2 jars of spaghetti sauce and a jar of home canned tomatoes from my garden from last years harvest . But it is definitely a budget friendly meal and allows for some savings to buy other things for the week/month. I also bought peaches this week at 99 cents a pound (fresh) that I have sliced up and put in the deep freezer for winter. I am on social security too and people question me at times how I can live on for them a very small amount of money.. I own my home that's a big help and it's a tiny home 672 square feet so my utilities are low we each have different challenges but I wanted to share for others to get some ideas. I will also share separately a budget friend desert. I also wanted to mention Sams Club has 4 pound bags of mixed vegetables for $6.98 that would really be a savings on making the vegetable soup without having to use to many different veggies if you can't afford them.. check with your friends or church members if you don't have a membership and they do and see if they'll pick them up for you. Blessings. Anna In Ohio
