This video will hopefully assist you in choosing the right tool to suit you.and your style of stitching.
Due to it's size and to make it easier to find the iron you want to see, it has been broken down into a number of parts.
In addition to this, you can download the specification sheet from. www.armitageleather.com/shop

This is the precise iron that I have from Goods Japan. Very pleased with it so far. I appreciate all of your videos. I attribute my improved stitching directly to you. Cannot thank you enough in all seriousness.

After watching this video the first time I bought a set of Seiwa irons from Goodsjapan, and polished them up. Perhaps I put too much of a polish on them because if I'm not careful the edges will cut my finger when I tap the iron. Perhaps I just need to keep my finger up on the gnarling. These do a great job, making for a fast stitching process. Of all the pricking irons I've bought, I like these the best. Thanks for all the great videos. You've saved me a lot of time and money.

Great review series! Your iron reviews have been very helpful for one just getting into the craft. After lots of research, your great review led me to go with the Seiwa irons, and your demonstration with them helped give me a starting point as to what size and brand needle and thread to get along with these irons. Lots of great info packed in your videos that make it possible to duplicate what I see, thanks!

This style of iron makes my favorite stitch, especially with a robust thread like the 0.8mm. I even like a diamond chisel hole with 0.6 Ritza Tiger. Not sure why I’m drawn to that look even for smaller goods like wallets. Thanks for a great review, that English Bridle at the end was gorgeous.

Thank-you for another informative video. I have the Seiwa 4mm and Craft Sha 3.5mm, both very good tools. I took wet and dry paper(240-1000grit) to them to polish the prongs and also round off the sharp edges of the prongs. I would not sharpen the edge of my awl, only the end. My stitching is now so neat, people think I am using a sewing machine. I am not sure if that is good or bad.

Nigel, can you please tell us how you polished the tools. I'm very interested. Maybe you can make a video on it? Thank you.

Hi Nigel, I've been learning how to saddle stitch from your videos. For the first piece of leather here, when you put the second needle in, you move the loop of thread over the needle, then pull. But when you stitch the white thread in the thick leather, you don't do that; instead, you just insert the second needle and pull. Why did you do them differently? Thanks, Tim from Seattle, WA, USA.

+Tim Swanson Hi Tim, I don't pretend to know as much as Nigel, but I think what you're talking about is putting a "cast" into the stitch or not. If you pass the thread over the needle you create a half hitch inside the leather, adding strength. That's called a cast. If you don't then you have a basic saddle stitch. I hope this helps. If I got it wrong, someone will correct me. Cheers, from a fellow mossback.

+John Dally That clears it up, thank you. And now that I know what it's called, I heard him say that the second stitching example doesn't have a cast. Cheers!

I bought 4 tooth and 2 tooth Seiwa tools after seeing Ian Atkinson's review. They've worked very well but 2 tooth has bent and cracked (may be my fault). Nigel, why did you not do the cast stitch on the Sedgewick's 4mm leather? I don't understand. Can you explain please?

rodrigovinhandele I'd say a 4mm (6spi) would look good on a biker wallet. You could go smaller to 7.5 /8 spi, but mo bigger than a 6 spi IMHO
