No Waffle , no Bull, just plain speaking and says it as it really is. Excellent reviewing. I listened with awe. Now its a head scratching toss up between KS Blade and the Sinabrok. Thankyou !

I went with KS blade because they are little cheaper, and the size of the holes are slightly smaller then Sinabroks. Also they offer them in European Style, Japanese Style, Round Hole Punch and the Baroque Punch. Finally my last two reasons as to why i chose KS Blade, its made of stainless steel compared to Sinabroks brass. I know the brass will prolly be fine but months later i can imagine the brass head having dents. Lastly I ordered them through Rocky Mountain Leather Supply and got it in 3 days compared to to Sinabroks 2+ weeks(website or Etsy) same goes for KS Blade unless you order ot through RMLS they usually keep a fair amount in stock so you can skip the wait time. In the end, the choice is yours and we both know youll be happy with either chose. I just wish KS Blade would offer replacement teeth that you can replace at home instead of having to send the damn thing in and waiting...

@@Handles-R-Lame Quote " To be fair I know the brass will probably be fine, but months later i can imagine the brass head having dents." I don`t think it will if your using a Hide mallet or a Nylon headed type mallet. Hide and nylon won`t dent brass. I live in the UK so no one I`m aware of stocks them over here, so it`ll be a case of having to buy from S Korea, and the Shipping plus Import duty and VAT on top is further cost to an already expensive item.☹

I’ve been using the exact 3.38mm KS Blade Punch Pricking Irons for nearly two years for my watch straps, and absolutely love them! Thanks for the wonderful honest review. I’m going to plug this review on one of my upcoming shows. Thanks again, MK

Are the blades held in with interference fit roll pins or allen key machine screws? OK at 6:26 you can see they are threaded screws

What is the difference between a pricking iron and a stitching iron?
@bethmcmullan98724 жыл бұрын
Sometimes brands use the names interchangeably which can be confusing. Generally, stitching irons are made to be punched the whole way through the leather, whereas pricking irons are used to mark your stitching holes - you would then use an awl to finish the hole. I know these are called pricking irons but they're designed as stitching irons to be punched the whole way through. The difference you'll see is that stitching irons tend to be more uniform in size from the bottom to the top of the blade whereas pricking irons tend to be narrower at the point, then broaden more significantly.

So which would you prefer? Crimson hides Japanese style, European style, or KS blades?

I don’t know if this question has been asked, but what weight maul/mallet do you recommend for whacking these pricking irons? I’ve got a set on the way, and do not like using the Tandy cheapo mallet anymore. Thanks in advance!
@bazlur-Vancouver4 жыл бұрын
Tandy sells Al Stolhlman mallet is heavy but expensive. You can buy Palo santo that one is expensive too.

What is the max depth of leather these will go through? I seriously big problems to use an awl as I can never get holes straight inline so prefer to push through the 9mm leather for my sheaths?

use awls

Great video and review. Have you actually tried to swap out the blades yourself as of now? I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on these, largely because you can change the angle of the teeth. BTW--I really love the way these tools look

Do you have a video where you explain the X-stitching technique? Maybe it's something that works good for thin leather too? I'm searching for a solution of the problem with the stitching flattening out on the backside on thinner leather.

I'm currently trying to decide which irons to buy for my 0.8mm Tiger Thread. Any chance you could do a quick video showing what a flat Tiger Thread would look like with the KS Blade Punch Irons? Your results are just incredible here with the smaller thread!
