This scene was filmed at the tail end of the filming. By then they all knew each other and didn't have to fake having so much fun together. A brilliant move by Joe Wright, the director. My favorite moment is at 0:36 when Lizzy says "I nearly went the wrong way." It was spontaneous; she really did almost go the wrong way, but it showed a natural ease you'd expect to see between sisters. They wisely kept it in the scene.

Also, I personally find dancing historical dancing more enjoyable as you first of all dance in groups so you can enjoy it more with the people around you. And secondly because there are quite a lot of dances where the music goes faster and faster so you need to keep up with the music and the musicians usually stop when nobody can follow the music anymore :D

@Jonathan Parks Sure it is. Why not? Mr. Beveridge's Maggot, Duke of Kent's Waltz, Joy After Sorrow, Hole in the Wall... In fact, I'd say more often than not ECD has the incorrect reputation of being static and stately and boring, when there are lots of fun, fast, exciting English country dances. Do you dance, Jonathan?

Do you mean a recording of this specific version from PnP, or just a recorded version of the tune? The tune is for the dance Young Widow (and the dance they're doing here looks similar), so there are recordings of Young Widow out there. For example, Bare Necessities plays it (on the album CDS Boston English Dance Collection Vol. 6: At the Ball) and they're wonderful. I also see a recording called The Pride and Prejudice Collection, Vol III by The Pemberley Players, but I'm not familiar with it myself. If you get it or hear it, let me know what you think. :)
