Captured here are Vancouver's Engine 6 and Pump 6 responding from Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services (VFRS) Fire Hall No. 6, in the city's West End neighborhood. This area is also considered to be the heart of Vancouver's LGBTQIA+ community, and Engine 6 sports a special pride flag livery to celebrate and support this community!

I'm happy to see visible support from first responders. It means a lot to those who are gay, like me, to know and have confidence we can count and trust these people in a time of need without fear of prejudice or discrimination. Even more so when you're originally from Hong Kong where they won't even pass a law to make it illegal to discriminate against LGBT people. Makes me super proud to be Canadian.

@@ember_shep8181 There is no difference between a pump and an engine, it’s just to differentiate two units. When a station runs two engines they call the second one a pump. Squads are rescue engines, specialized in heavy rescues/ extrication etc. Basically an engine with extra equipment and specialized training as far as I know.

All 2007 trucks have a pump on the roof if you’re looking. The RE SQ and standard engines are 2016

@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses The key is neutrality. Just like any other governmental agency, they should stay neutral and not include any religious nor any other symbols that could be controversial. Publicly funded agencies should - as everywhere - only use their official city/ county/ state/ country logos and flags (which by the way already include everyone and not just certain groups). Again, neutrality is the key. Apart from that, the whole trans topic and the Black Li(v)es Matter hoax (both represented by some stripes) are definitely political and extremely controversial to say the least.

@@Rummeltobi There’s nothing political or controversial here, and nobody is being harmed. Nobody is going to receive anything less from the fire department just because they show the Pride flag on a vehicle. And no, the regular logos do not make inclusivity clear. This is a community that has been marginalized, targeted, and even persecuted for a long time, so showing visible support is a good thing. Vancouver Fire Rescue is doing the same thing for the First Nations community, with an indigenous art design now being featured on Engine 2. If anything things like this are a move towards actual neutrality and inclusivity.
