I graduated class of 89 from East Side, me and my sister were extras in the Lean on me movie but of course we got no camera time! 😂😂 but Morgan gave us kids a really nice speech when he was done with the first stage scene!

...when I was visiting my late brother Tim, in Berlin waay back in 1994 (now almost 30 years ago!!!) we drove to Ramsau to photograph the famous church that shows up in all the travel brochures...ran into an older gentleman (I was wearing a 'Chinatown, NYC' T-shirt) and a conversation ensued..turns out he lived in Paterson for a number of years - his son went to - and graduated from - Eastside (his son was there and was a veteran of the USAF) I told him how the school had fallen on 'hard times' - he - and the son seemed sad but talked about their 'old days' and good memories...what a small world!!!

My brother was born at Paterson General. I was born at St. Joseph's. I told him that they tore it down after he was born because of him. He's an older brother and love to give him grief.

Thank you for this video. I am a son, grand son and great grand son of Paterson. I am half Italian and half Polish. Raised in the Riverside section on Putnam St. Point of interest. My AMERICAN/Polish grand parents sang accompaniment to the world famous Polish pianist, Pederewski in the Paterson Armory early in the 20th century. Thanks again for this video.

I was also born in PGH. I took my kids to see where I went to elementary school and it had been turned into a parking lot. I must admit that I am not proud of my roots. Paterson has become a horrible place. I worked there, taught classes there, shopped there, worshiped there. Only reason I would go back would be to visit old friends, but most have moved out or died. But thanks for the trip down memory lane!

They used to have professional wrestling at the armory (I'm 70 years old). I saw Bruno San Martino wrestle there. I was born in the old Paterson General. Worked for the city for many years then went to work for the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission.I was also involved in local politics. Long time ago.

alejandro fernandez Hopefully this new Generation of Patersonians will take up the mantra for change. It just takes pride. If we're proud of our city we all will do our part to make it better. It will take a collective effort though. One if the reasons I made this series is because every time I searched Paterson in youtube, only results showing negative things would pop up. And I know there's a lot of good here so I wanted to change that by hopefully these positive videos will show in the results.

@@PrideInPaterson, My family moved to Paterson in 1956 from Pennsylvania and lived on Water St.and it was not a good place to live.It is now Presidential Blvd. I had a brother and 2 sisters. When me Parents saved enough money they bought a house on Liberty St. near the old stadium. It was a ok place to live, when my parents passed away, my two children took over the house. As it was a two family the had their own apartments. As the neighborhood started getting undesirable with loud music etc.they moved and sold the house. I was in the area last week and it is worse and it is now coming from West Broadway and up Union Ave. Sorry, but i am glad i don't live there any more as id dont' see it getting better.

Does anybody remember Rubin Carter and his friend Arliss and the crap the justice system put them through? It really STINKS that a person is taxed to death out of their own home. It's a little like murder to me.. I think the last time Lou Costello was there to visit was a year before his passing. My friend Jim, who lived on Spring street was 13 in 1957, When he shined Lou Costellos' shoes.

Yes, as I have mentioned in previous videos, I am not an official tour guide. I am a private citizen that loves his hometown and loves creating videos. I will never be able to mention every single location of every single block of every single neighborhood. The only thing I could do is show neighborhoods and share some of my memories in those neighborhoods. My channel is an open forum for everyone to talk about their memories, like you just did with St Josephs. That's why I show these neighborhoods, so we can all reminisce about our childhoods in Paterson and share things and places that I may not have talked about. My videos are just a starting point to these discussions. Keep in mind that I am neither a paid tour guide nor a Patersonian expert.

I hear they plan to sweep Paterson out renovate the whole city and make requirements to move in. They do this every 40-50 years or so to certain areas. Most Hispanics and blacks won’t be qualified to move back in once they do that. Growing up I always wondered what these vacant buildings were and why they didn’t fix it up. Paterson has so much potential.
