Thanks for showing South Paterson . It is a great part of town. My family moved to Atlantic Street back in 1971 from CCP. My mom still Lives there. Paterson was a wonderful place to grow up. I went to school #4 , grad from JFK and then grad from WPC. Your tours have always given me joy. I DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY!! I LOVE PATERSON, N.J.

I loved it. I've watched some of those "hood" videos (until I got bored with them) primarily because I'm fascinated by buildings, especially the older ones. I do have to say, though, that when I watched one about a suburb that's only a few miles from me to see if I recognized anyplace, I felt my heart break when I saw the condition of those older apartment buildings. Having worked as a building super for 6 years (and keeping the places clean and in good condition), the sight of those places just about made me cry. Keep up the good work of videos about places where the hardworking, everyday people live.

Hi Freddy. I really enjoyed the ride. I think rainy days are the best times to be contemplative and reflect on the neighborhoods and realize how precious they really are and how things change. As you passed over Getty Avenue while on Crooks heading toward Main St. I could not help but notice that new building going up where "The Egg Platter" used to stand. I spent many a 3am visits there enjoying fabulous breakfast meals. I heard it had closed and now I can see the reality of their passing. You drove up Paxton St and I remembered a friend I had there almost 60 years ago. Neat. I never knew until a few days ago that in South Paterson at the intersection of Buffalo and Potomac St., that a 100 year old family owned company, now in its 4th. generation is still in business. It is the Peragallo Pipe Organ Company. Imagine that. With all the industry that has come and gone in Paterson, among those variations, a pipe organ company existed and still does. I read up on them and it is truly an amazing place. I wonder if as a part of your Pride in Paterson series, if they would be amenable to an interview and brief tour of their facility. Certainly a place Paterson would be proud of. As for Paterson cops. I have the greatest respect for them. I have yet to meet one that does not have incredible street smarts and knows their community and truly wants to serve and protect it. I have to add too, the Paterson Fire Department. These two services are the glue that keeps the community safe and sound for sure. Thanks for the ride kid.

Freddy thank you. I worked in Ed White's meat market on Rail Road Ave. in the late 1950s and early 1960s and you drove past where it once stood. It was in the building that's Brother's Produce. I remember Ed White senior who we used to call Pop White and his son we called junior. Many Paterson firemen worked there part time to build Social Security earning time. One was Willy Comer who went on to be chief. I can still name most of the firemen I worked with but it would take too much space.

Wow! Thanks Freddy!!!! Cannot believe how much it has changed - so many new buildings! Glad you showed St. George's Church - that's where I got married in 1965 - the building across the street from the church was a Catholic grammar school. Where the library is on Main & Montclair used to be Nick's gas station. The little park in front of it was always there. All new stores - don't recognize any of them anymore. Wish you had gone up Pacific Street between Gould and Montclair, but thanks again - I really enjoyed the ride! :o)

South Paterson is alive with small businesses and owner occupied homes. When the landlord is living in the house, he's got some skin in the game and they try to maintain their homes to the best of their ability. The food is great and so are the specialty markets, especially the butcher shops. It's a unique experience shopping there and picking up authentic international foods and spices.

@@PrideInPaterson Hello I love what you do I saw a video 2 days ago on ROSA PARKS with dealers flashing all there cash and getting drunk in the street and there was a shooting IN THE VIDEO 😮😮 Doesn’t matter where you go in any state of city there’s a possibility that will or won’t happen but ppl shouldn’t focus on bad areas because they think they’ll get more views but when u degrade where ur from your degrading yourself cuz where u r from makes u the person u r good or bad just 2 different paths some take 1 some take another has nothing to do with the neighbor hood ur from

Holy cow, the egg platter is gone.. Ha, you drove right past my old house. Nothing really has changed except the middle easterners who moved in. Most only own businesses on Main St., they make their money and leave. I remember one Halloween when they lit Montclair ave on fire, some kids poured gas on the street for about a block and then lit it on fire. The Paterson cop that lived across from us had his garden hose in the street spraying it with water. Not a bad neighborhood I walked to the Corral and The Platter, Getty Grill, etc., working for the city was a good job, we had everything we needed in the city. But times change and I left for a bigger city close by.
