So proud of the lads. The Champions League journey may be over, but what a ride it was! For a moment the people of Kofu dared to dream, and we thought that if anyone could make a second leg comeback, it would be Ventforet.
Starting the game 3-0 down from the first leg, it was never going to be an easy task. But for the almost 16,000 fans in attendance at the National Stadium, belief never dropped and every moment was of the night was savoured.
Going 1-0 down on the night very early on was certainly not in the game plan, but all Kofu players couldn't have given more, with J.League legend Peter Utaka chasing down every single ball and refusing to give up. He is and always be my favourite player. Hero.
The result isn't what we wanted, but at the end of the day I think we were all just happy to enjoy the dream for a little bit. It was a privilege to be there and to share this memory with the hardcore Kofu fans who made the trip to Tokyo, and I'm glad that the club showcased the passion of the J.League so highly on the global stage.

熱い汗と冷たい雨で全身を濡らした甲府の選手たちに、温かい拍手が降り注がれた。２１日のアジア・チャンピオンズリーグ（ＡＣＬ）決勝トーナメント１回戦第２戦の蔚山戦。第１戦では０―３で敗れた甲府がベスト８に進出するには４点差以上で勝つ必要があったが、結果は１―２。現実的には厳しいと分かっていても、雨の国立競技場にはＡＣＬホーム戦最多の１万５９３２人が集まった。
甲府市からバスで来場した４０代男性のサポーターは試合前に言った。「もちろん勝って欲しいですが、それだけじゃない。天皇杯優勝で夢を見させてもらった恩返しをしたい気持ちもあるし、何よりも最後まで諦めない甲府の姿を見たいんです」。
その思いは監督、スタッフ、そして選手たち全員に伝わっていた。前半１１分、前のめりになったところで食らったカウンターで先制点を献上。ところが、諦めるどころか、そこから怒とうの攻撃は加速した。ＦＷウタカや新加入のＭＦ木村卓斗が際どいシュートを放ち、ＭＦ鳥海芳樹も切れ込んでゴール前へ迫った。後半に入っても攻めまくり、実ったのは後半４３分。ＤＦ小林岩魚の左からのＣＫをＦＷ三平和司がアフロヘアを揺らして、頭で押し込んだ。放ったシュートはＫリーグ王者の３倍を上回る２７本。ロスタイムに失点し、結果はついて来なかったが、サポーターの思いには確かに応えた。
