The two of you have an enjoyable chemistry that make this vlog actually fun to watch. I'm an older gentleman, and watching the fun y'all are having causes me to curse the decade in which I was born. Oh, to be young and gay and in love. Enjoy.

I was a teenager (15) in NYC the weekend of the Stonewall Riots. I remember going down to the village (to cruise) and seeing the aftermath. There was nothing in the news about the riots, except for the Village Voice later that week. At that time it was illegal for gays to drink together in public in NY state. The younger generation have no idea how much has changed for the better.

jlelliotton that’s crazy. It makes me sick how awful things were for our community so recently, but the more I learn the more I’m amazed at how far we’ve come in a pretty short amount of time. Especially since the 2015 Supreme Court ruling! Gay marriage has generally become an accepted norm even in centrist or even right leaning crowds whereas before the ruling it was highly controversial. It’s so important to understand where we were to appreciate how far we’ve come.

jlelliotton---Gives me warmth and great pleasure to hear from you, who were in the neighborhood at that time. I lived the next street over from Christopher, West 10th Street. It was a milestone event in my personal development. I joined GAA, and thank each and every one who rose up and fought for our rights. Thank you for being out here still.

I envy you guys being able to have your young children at Pride. While our son was young , we were still involved in litigating custody, so no Pride for us as a family until he was in his teens . He was always a trouper about them , straight boy that he is. Good video men. Thanks

I celebrated my first pride in 2005 I think, in Seattle. I didn't go to the parade, but I just went to the different booths and met a drag queen; I also remember they had like a couples movie in the park (I think) but I didn't stay for that as I was single.

I attended my first Pride in Denver in the mid-70s shortly after leaving Utah to escape an abusive stepfather. That, and Utah pretty much sucked at the time. I was in my mid-late 20s at the time and remember the parade vividly. Being out in a crowd of other gay men and women was liberating. But now I find myself back in Utah (I came back here in late 2010 to help my Mother through some health issues) and while the overall atmosphere afforded to the LBGTQ+ community has changed remarkably, I find one very disturbing flaw here. Well, not only here, but almost universally in the Gay community. Once you reach a certain age, you are automatically "excommunicated" from the community. At least that's my feeling. Maybe it's a feeling of my own making, but the feeling is there nonetheless and I see little happening in the community to affect a change in that regard. Sorry - I didn't mean to hijack your comments section. But your reminiscences of your Pride experiences brought back my own memories - bitter sweet now that I am irrevocably well into my senior citizen years. Congrats on your KZbin Channel and best wishes as you journey along the path you have chosen. Whether you are straight, gay, bi, or any of the other definitions we label ourselves with, family and inclusion are important. Now more so than ever.

Hey guys. I enjoy your videos. I'm an ex Mormon, return missionary, Cumorah up state NY. Married in the SL Temple 32 years. 5 kids. When the youngest turned 21 I asked for a divorce. Soon after met the man of my dreams. We've been together almost 9 years and married Oct 15th 2016. Even tho I'm not involved in the church, I will always be known as "The Gay Mormon." I've discovered when you're born, raised and your family is pioneer stock, it's like being Jewish. Seems you can never shake it off. I was wondering how y'all feel about it?

I'm actually going to my first pride this year! I'm going to Sandusky pride this weekend, and I'm looking forward to it! Wish I was closer to one of the big cities for pride this year, but I'm stuck where I go to school right now. I've been out (sorta) since I was 19, so I'm very excited to finally go to a parade. Also I'm a little bit in love with that rainbow jumper tbh

Guys, you seem like a great couple but I have a question that I hope does not offend you. I get that pride is about acceptance for the gay community but, like black history month, doesn't it create a you versus them mentality? Of course everyone may attend these events but they are truly only celebrating a select group of people and not all people. As a straight father I have had to answer the, "why isn't there not a white history month?" Question. Your thoughts?
@AtomicBoo6 жыл бұрын
Eric I think gay pride is different than black month because black month is exclusive to the US while pride month is celebrated all around the world, where I live there is pride but no black month so you can't compare
@Eric-rr8ui6 жыл бұрын
supersuato123 I see your point about black history month being established to appease African Americans but just like gay pride, it is intended for a select group of people and not all people, which makes it an exclusive event.
@Eric-rr8ui6 жыл бұрын
Marco Sartori anyone can go but not everyone is invited. Check out a few minutes of "Pride Paraders Turn out to be Major Hypocrites" and you will see that as a straight white male conservative Iam by no means welcome at such an event.
@DadNDaddies6 жыл бұрын
Our answer is no. Pride celebrates a community of inclusion. LGBTQ+ people and allies come together to celebrate what makes them unique. It doesn't make an "us vs. them" situation because there are many people there who are aren't LGBTQ who are celebrating their family members and friends. Pride has never been about pitting people against each other, but rather lifting up and celebrating what has previously been opressed and hidden.
@Eric-rr8ui6 жыл бұрын
DadsNotDaddies thanks for responding. I understand that pride was never established to pit people against each other. I have a gay brother, and his coming out was a brave act. I believe we need to get to a point where coming out is not a big deal. A point where we all have pride without singling out a particular segment of society.
@bassl36476 жыл бұрын
With all due respect of course. I'd like to ask, are you concerned of the kids seeing naked people or people having public sex ??
@DadNDaddies6 жыл бұрын
That does not happen in Utah.
@kaneohe82906 жыл бұрын
Geez guys, you're spreading bad information. Alexa is wrong. The Black Cat Tavern riots in Los Angeles predate Stonewall by over two years. The first Pride march was on June 27, 1970 in Chicago. The 2nd was on the morning of June 28 in Los Angeles. The 3rd one was in New York later that day. This is all easily verifiable. So NO, we don't do Pride because of Stonewall. New York peeps need to stop claiming that. We do it because of ALL the people and locations in the early movement, and to celebrate who we are.
