Priest Skear Morecambe Bay

Priest Skear an unusual bit of high ground in Morecambe Bay,which is covered at high tide.
This is where most of the 21 Chinese cockle pickers perished on a cold winter night in 2004 , they were overtaken by the incoming tide.

Shows the grand scale of the bay. Is that the area where the cocklers died,?

Yes,they died there,it is completely covered at high tide.

@@sj460162 Yes it is fun to walk out there, but dangerous and there are channels around it that can be tricky, and of course when the tide comes in,it comes in very fast, which is what caught the Cocklers. The cockle beds were badly damaged by the pickers,they were stripped bare and have never re-opened.
