I bought my Enduro 450 in September last year. Using it for 3-5 day trips on smaller rivers in Germany, whitewater cl. 1, not more. My wife has the 380. We love this boats! I loaded the 450 with 35-50 kg, my weight is about 90 kg and it always gave me a save, stable feeling, never had the feeling it would tip over. Your video is the first real review of the Enduro i found so far on YT. And what you did with it is far beyond my own skills. Keep on testing Prijon! Thanks!

It has considerably less volume. I’ve never paddled a Yukon Expedition so I can’t compare. As a bigger guy, however, I would love to have the weight carrying capacity of the Yukon. I believe it’s 350 lbs for the Yukon and 285 for the Enduro 450. All of my paddling experience has been in canoes and cheap recreational kayaks so when I got the Enduro with sturdy foot pegs and real thigh braces, I was ecstatic. Haven’t paddled it much but I love it! Now if I can just figure out how to turn the crazy thing…

The Yukon can indeed carry a bit more. I think it is about 40lbs more capacity for the Yukon. If you ever get a chance to grab a Yukon, dont miss it!

I got my Yukon without a rudder. First time I took it out in slow water it didn't track at all. I took it out on flat water and it was just as bad - so bad I threw it in the garage for a couple months until I could cobble together rudder system from 3 different manufacturers. Once I had the rudder on it was a whole different experience. Now it's my favorite boat on lakes or rivers.

Missed the premier so watching now. What's the highest class of rapid you would run with a touring boat? Obviously your skill far outweighs mine, but this video has made me curious due to the lack of maneuverability.

I have a Venture Esky 16 that has a similar need to be moving to stay stable. I always tell my paddling partners its like riding a bike you slow down too much and you tip over. Thats why I am usually a whole bend in the river ahead of them I am keeping my balance and not because their canoes are so slow lol

Holy Pete! I sometimes wonder if your wife surprised you at night with your Yukon Expe! 😱🤣🤣 More seriously, I love this video. Firstly because I'm hesitating between Yukon and Enduro 450 but the second corresponds better to my program... old paddlers and bodies of water to navigate. And the Enduro seems to me a good compromise for class I, II rivers and sea/ocean. What do you think? The other reason to like this video, apart from the comparative test, is this ability that you have, both to explain and to carry out the technical gestures. Without your informed comments, we might tend to say, "yes but it's Pete. Put any kayak under his butt and the result will always seem easy!” No, really beyond the image on the water or on land, we learn to better understand why boats and especially hulls react differently. Thank you again Pete for all this and if you can give me some advice regarding my future choice depending on the planned program, I would be very grateful. See you soon ...

How big of a difference is there going from 12ish to 14ish feet in length? I feel like 12 is sufficient and would be just a little more playful, does the added length of the 14’ provide a significant improvement in speed and capacity to outweigh the maneuverability and ease of handling/hauling/storing of a 12’ boat? I’ve never paddled a 14’, so far just up to 12’.I’m considering stepping up to a Dagger Stratos, maybe even a stinger xp, knowing that those are extremely different boats
@RiverKingsKayak
@RiverKingsKayak 2 жыл бұрын
in the short term there would be no downsides to a 12 footer except for gear capacity. In fact, the extra maneuverability can def be an asset on the right creek/river. On our longer multi hundred mile trips. even 1 mph difference in speed can mean being 12 miles behind on the course of a long day. That would add up to an 84 mile deficit on a week long trip. So the balance of speed and maneuverability always has to be measured. On a long trip with no rapids, a Yukon would not be the best choice as there are much faster longer boats out there that will deliver a higher yield on cumulative miles to the effort you are putting in. As you know, the group is only as fast as the slowest boat...which is why we always ensure everyone has the same basic speed capabilities on a longer trip. You are free to bring a faster boat, but def not a scud! LOL!

38:23 The seat does shift like that. It was the first time I tried bracing it. I hate to say it this way but it almost feels “cheap”. Robby and I were thinking about ways to brace the seat so you won’t have that travel like it does back and forth. Maybe that comes from sitting more in a ww Jackson boat where you are snug. Maybe it’s not supposed to make you feel as locked in. I don’t know. I will probably end up bringing it to you to put your seat mod in it eventually!😊

Thanks for your video's! Whats your thoughts on the 380 version of this? according to the official prijon video it has more rocker than the 450. would you put that in the same range as dagger katana or is it still in between? Cheers!
@RiverKingsKayak
@RiverKingsKayak Жыл бұрын
I know it would be shorter and thus slower making it not as good for covering the long miles we do. It would still be a lot bigger than a katana and a lot less ww capable, though better in ww than the 450 for sure.

Hey I own a Gumotex Rush and usually go in northern germany on big calm rivers or small narrow onse and sometimes WW II in southern germany - but i want to get my first PE boat for similar tracks. I think between Dagger Stratos 14 and Prijon Enduro 450. I weigh 103 kilos, 182cm. I am not a skilled paddler but i have trust wish the Rush 1 in WW2. I would like also to get more load and paddle better in wind an for about 25km tracks. Id like to improve my paddling skills without taking a course - like both of your reviews on those boats, but still cant decide.

Hi Pete. Interested that you paddled alone on exposed whitewater. How do you feel about it from a safety point of view?
@RiverKingsKayak
@RiverKingsKayak 2 жыл бұрын
Well, Nobody could argue that having equally skilled paddlers with you is always safer. There are widely varying views on this topic. I never paddle solo on anything that pushes my personal skillset. Some of my favorite trips have been solo trips...it is a different experience altogether and some would argue that you are a better paddler solo as there are no distractions. Others point out that paddling with those less skilled than yourself can end up putting you in harms way when you have to perform rescues etc...I dont get too wrapped around all those axles as they all have their pros and cons. I just try to use prudence whenever I am on any water in any circumstances no matter whether I am solo or part of a large group. Every time we go out on the water, we are in a survival situation. It is up to us to ensure we are doing that in a responsible way and that we have thought it all through...hope that makes sense!

@@RiverKingsKayak Thanks for taking the time to reply Pete. I asked as I paddle alone a fair bit and always feel like other paddlers frown on it. I agree with your reply. I am in the same boat, literally! 😄👍🏼 It is such a great boat. I found it to be able and catch an eddy pretty easily without the Skeg dropped, and have solid tracking even with just a slight amount of skeg dropped. The design of the chines REALLY helps when you know how to edge. I am curious how you find it to be. It has solid primary stability, and really solid secondary stability allowing you to go on edge and gain the added ability to turn pretty fast. It surfs really great too!
@crackerbat

@@joshinfwtx4506 I have a Tempest 170, but I don't have any other WS boats to compare it to. It does have some rocker, and the skeg is needed in windy conditions on open water. I need to try it out some more on a river, but my first impression with that was that it's pretty tough to see the rocks before you hit them in a 17' boat. I'd say it maneuvers nicely for the size.

Hi Riverking! Anton from Sweden here. Been following you couple of years. Really Good content and I have some questions for you. Me and i friend want to paddle downstream river for like a weekend (3 days capacity) Rapids is Up to class 3 here and there but its mostly Long calm water. We have no ambitions to play in the Rapids just punch thru Them just for getting from point A to B. How Would you rank this kayak for the Job? And how Would you compared it against something like a Dagger Axis 12? Is the Prijon Yukon the ultimate vessel for this type of mission or what else should we aim for?

Thanks An UI! There are several options. The Dagger Katana, Wavesport Ethos, Jackson Traverse, and Pyranha Fusion and Liquidlogic Remix XP are all great crossovers that can handle the rapids as well as carry for a 3 day trek. If you need more space and want to make time on the flatter stretches but will still have rapids to maneuver, there is nothing better than the Prijon Yukon Expedition!!
