I thought exactly the same thing, I imagine that since Ralf participated in the show "30 Years Live Anniversary" by Gamma Ray, and there they play Avalon, he probably got the melody in his head and then he didn't remember that it was from "Avalon", and probably put that melody in Primal Fear's music.

Amazing song. I believe 90% of people that cancel others, are not aware that they are doing it. They think that what they post, it's just one of ten, twelve posts. People don't realize that their post is one between thousands. In my opinion, cancelation is generally involuntary. Everybody likes to give his opinion, that's the problem. I think using this song title was a mistake, unless the band just wanted to generate controversy. There are parts of the lyrical message I can really get behind. Example: "There's only black and white, nothing in-between's accepted Everyone is right, not a chance for tolerance" But when you use the term "cancel culture" in a way that clearly implies it to be a bad thing (which, let's be real, is usually the way it's used), you give the fairly clear impression that you are taking sides in a very loaded cultural debate that, in my opinion, is often simply unhelpful no matter which "side" you take because of how people tend to engage in it. I personally think even using a trite and simplistic term like "cancel culture" to refer to anything is actually quite unhelpful in solving the problems that people who are against what they consider "cancel culture" see in society today. Because in too many instances, it's used to refer to a wide array of ideas and phenomena that don't necessarily even have anything to do with one another. But humans like to label things to make a complex world simple enough for them to understand, and I think use of the term "cancel culture" is a perfect example of this. I actually agree with the lyrics I quoted above, but when combined with the use of the term "cancel culture"' to label something that the band apparently dislikes, the message comes across as leaking unintentional irony. I mean, I could be misinterpreting something, but it seems to me they're using what is clearly a pejorative term for views that don't align with theirs while lamenting intolerance for differing views. Bottom line: it really makes a difference how you convey your message. If this song had been given a title that didn't have polarizing implications, I think an otherwise identical message could have been much better received. But then, there probably wouldn't be as many of us talking about it. But if you avoid using language that implies that people you disagree with are exclusively to blame for what you see wrong in society, the discussion has a much greater chance of actually being constructive.
