Join me as I continue my in-depth Kickstarter Preview Series for Primal: The Awakening created by Tommaso Mondadori, Alberto Parisi and published by Reggie Games. The Kickstarter launches January 19th, 2021. In this video I'll walk you through a rules overview and then head into the solo playthrough. Stay tuned for the finale of the playthrough and I hope this helps you make your own informed decision on the upcoming campaign. Enjoy my friends! :D *Primal: The Awakening Kickstarter Draft Page:* www.kickstarter.com/projects/reggiegames/primal-the-awakening?ref=bggforums&token=5bb67f12 *Corrections:* - I mention in the video the damage coming from a red card played in sequence is equal to the level of your weapon times the weapon damage, it's actually just the weapon damage only. No gameplay impact however. :) - At 32:36 I should have paid the two Struggle tokens but got caught up explaining Fire. The monster will use the tokens if it has them even if it doesn't gain a benefit from doing so. Big thanks to Ben Cartier for pointing this out! "Primal: the Awakening is a fully cooperative monster hunting miniature boardgame for 1-4 players set in a fantasy world where humans struggle to survive an untamed wilderness. The game is played in a serie of multiple sessions throughout an epic campaign where you will take the role of hunters fighting monstrous creatures and unveiling mysteries about their origins. *Campaign Mode* Players will choose their path through the story by completing quests and unlocking special rewards and achievements. Each mission you choose will lead to different developments of the story and to plenty of unique opportunities like crafting options, unique items and rare hunts to be played. The consequences of your actions will impact the story as the campaign progresses towards the epic finale. *Hunt Mode* While the game has been designed around the campaign experience, players can also play one-shot encounters in the Hunt mode. Specific setup and rules are provided for single combat scenarios at different levels of gear and difficulty. The Hunt mode also offers the opportunity to play special end-game quests using your campaign characters. *Gameplay Features* The gameplay is centred on an intense and challenging boss-fight system that combines tactical positioning on the board, hand management and cooperative play. The combat is designed to be fast paced while focusing on card combos and player interaction. Each monster is a unique challenge that hunters will have to face as a group, completing specific objectives and adopting different strategies. Monsters have their own specific deck of cards which represents their specific combat behaviour including attacks targeting specific areas on the board, special abilities, but also weaknesses and vulnerabilities that hunters can take advantage of during combat. *Crafting and Customization* The game also focuses on a deep character customization. As the campaign progresses, players will unlock a large variety of crafting options as they upgrade and expand the Forge depending on the specific monsters they slay. As the hunters level up from session to session, players will also have multiple choices to customize their deck of ability cards in order to build better synergies, card combos and group strategies." *Media Inquiries:* rollingsologamer@gmail.com *You can connect with the Rolling Solo community in multiple places!* Rolling Solo Patreon: www.patreon.com/rollingsolo Rolling Solo Community Discord: discord.gg/c5HQrcK Rolling Solo Facebook Page: facebook.com/TryRollingSolo/ Rolling Solo Board Game Community | Facebook Group: facebook.com/groups/330345337770347/ Twitter: twitter.com/TryRollingSolo Instagram: instagram.com/ro11ingsolo/ BGG Guild: boardgamegeek.com/guild/2998

I love how simple each character turn is, and yet the strategy about the order of the cards and whether you move or not feels so deep.
@RollingSolo3 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly it. It’s simple to remember how the rounds flow but you need to think about your strategy for the current turn, effects it has that turn and then ripple effects in the next round. I like it!

How long do these videos take you? Your gameplays are seriously the most heavily-edited out there and show not only people playing the game, but the tactical decisions that have to be made which is great. These videos are my #1 way to determine if a game is for me so thanks so much.
@RollingSolo3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! That really means a lot to me. I pour a ton of effort into every video I put out. They’re time consuming to say the least and each video varies in terms of time. This one took about 3-4 hours to film and about half that time to edit. Tack on another hour for processing, uploading, publishing etc. That’s not counting reading the rules, playing the game prior and putting together intros. It adds up reeeeal fast. 😜

I believe the brush was intended to be used in the first turn of the game, move 1 character to the brush (left) and then start the turn of the other and move them right, they use an agro card to make monster turn to them, making the player in the brush be able to attack the rear sector and start stacking up on the tail from round 1. Anyways love the vid stumbled upon cos i late pledged the game around a month ago and am supper hyped for everything it has to offer, love the monster designs (and i cant wait to paint their bootleg mizutsune and rathalos :P) i just wish that they added more battle boards to be more thematic (i think the mat is double sided but having 1 per expansion would be nice for different envoirements) and would be cool if there was more unique art on the player cards and monster ai cards but thats just me nitpicking after being spoiled by ATOs card designs :P Edit: i guess it doesnt make a difference tho in the end because only 1 character can attack anyways and what you did did the same thing but i havent been able to find any other use for the brush so far in tts cos it just gets destroyed by the fire farely quickly and only the later stances seem to be viable for thisbut again dont seem to make a difference than, move make monster turn and move other character

Awesome playthrough, caught almost everything there was to it! Although I believe when you had to discard a 2 stamina card to move Darien at the end of round, you didn't actually move him, just left him in the fire zone. No complaints though, looks super fun and seems easy to forget a lot of things happening! Edit: A bit later I also saw that you removed the rear-attacking objective, it should stay there since it has a star next to the number (which means it stays even when changing stance or complete). And I think it's 2 counters per character/5 damage per character.

Thanks for the feedback Christopher! I’ve filmed the Finale and it will land around the 19th ish. Missed the star on the card, I’ll have to take another look at that. Cheers!

Hello ! Please, can you advise, for the passive (peril) of the 1st stance, how exactly are the effects resolved, as for what I understand, if you reveal 1 yellow card, because if the effect triggering once, this yellow card stays revealed, but in your case, when you triggered the effect of the peril card twice, you said that you would not take damage, but from what I understand, the idea behind revealing card, is to have it revealed, so the next time the peril activates, you wont have additional one to reveal (as in your case) and you would've taken the damage from the second peril activation ? Of course, after you discard or play the revealed card/cards, you will draw new ones, which will be hidden, so you can deny the effect again if need be. Please, advise me if I am wrong in any way, as me and my brother really like the game and we like to play by the rules 😁. Thank you in advance !

After 3 plays, we still have no idea what the bushes are good for. There was never a reason or situation that came up where someone would want to give up their entire turn just to hide from some unknown danger?
@RollingSolo4 ай бұрын
I think certain monsters are going to make those very handy or dire situations. I agree though, I'm curious how often they're used too. Thanks for watching!

Only discard five struggle tokens when monster gets more than ten, not all of them.

During the behavior switch, remove all cards that are "tied" for lowest switch number, so you should have discarded both of the 4's.

@@RollingSolo It was a very good video! And who knows, maybe the rules have been changed since you filmed this? Or I suppose mine could be outdated, I have v0.75, but it seems to match up with other videos I've seen.

Thanks a lot for this preview, Adam. I've been interested in seeing how this game works. After watching you play it I think I'm going to end up passing. I was hoping for a replacement or competitor for KDM, but this doesn't look like it to me. At least not in its current form. I'll have to check out the next video when you up it to be sure of course. I was really hoping for a board that allows for a bit more tactical movement and positioning and that's probably my biggest complaint. Only four places to move on a very small board? Seems like a huge missed opportunity, especially with a character that uses a massive bow. On top of that, the card play looks interesting, but it didn't look smooth and they looked hard to read as well. Maybe the cards are easier to read when they aren't on a computer screen. :p Looking forward to Part 2 to see if my feelings change.
@RollingSolo3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason! Thanks for watching. They’re certainly easier to read in person. With this being a prototype I think the font sizes etc will all be hammered out. Glad this helped you decide either way. I have another video coming to wrap up the battle very soon and hope it helps. Cheers!

@MrScrawnjuan3 жыл бұрын
Think I'm gonna be dropping my early bird. Doesn't seem enough for me to justify that price. Token terrain could have been 3D and the monsters could have just been standees for what they do
